Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
In this particular case none of that is true. Cashman wanted us all summer but we didn't get it done. This one is totally on us. The margins in this division are so small that you have to go out and deliver your key targets and learn from your mistakes.
In which case what was the delay? I mean we could still tempt him but this not moving quickly enough .. hoped that wouldn’t happen. I’m confident we can still bring in very good players but Cashman would’ve been a huge statement of intent to our league rivals.

I have noticed a lot of signings from this league and below being made by EFL clubs. I guess trying to follow the Peterbrough model of buying young talent and hopefully making a buck later.

Wow, have some time away from this thread and it goes slow, slow, quick, quick, slow. However, It's Friday so it maybe it could be a 'look what we've got' day today.

Being a bit pedantic, Summer hasn’t actually started yet technically. Plus the playoff final was less than 2 weeks ago. So while I’m sure you’re right that he had been interested and we missed the boat, the timescale is probably a little less dramatic.

Ask Justin Rees that, he want to give it a right go and go one step better.
I think his most recent statement is slightly less gung ho than his quote after the final whistle at wembley

"Of course, our near-term goal is promotion, but we’re humble enough to know it won’t be easy, and sensible enough to pursue it with discipline and care."

Looks like Cashman is going to Crawley. Can't blame the lad for wanting to play in the EFL but the fact we cannot compete with Crawley is a stark reminder of how far we have fallen over the past 5 years.
That is true, but there was also a time when Crawley had a load of money under Steve Evans and I remember being in the North Bank with a load of AC Milan fans going mental at our 0-0 with 9 men. We always felt we were the bigger club, but they had bigger ambition.

In modern football, you're only as big as the league you are in or the money you can provide. It's why Bournemouth is more attractive than Leeds. Just how it is unfortunately.
