A Bit of Fun Transfer Rumours Thread (Potential New Signings)

Agree but as he is out of contract it doesn’t tie into what Chris Phillips tweeted does it? I have lost track of what’s going on lol

i ‘now Stan Sid very little chance of Hudlin as he has league interest
Out of contract after the last game of the season (tomorrow) sorry should have been clearer

Hearing Rumours that the 2 signings are Paul McCallum of Daggers and Solihull Moors striker who is the tallest professional footballer in England at
6ft 9 inches, Kyle Hudlin.

That sounds positive - I'll be honest i haven't heard much about them, do they have a dire injury record?

Southend should take a look at Danilo Orsi-Dadomo, a 6' 2" striker who has scored 17 goals in his first season at Maidenhead. I am not sure he is under contract for next year. He was signed for Maidenhead on the strong recommendation of Alan Devonshire, the club's chief scout. Devonshire described him as an extremely hard working, strong forward and a fine finisher. In particular, he seems to have combined very well this season with the former Southend winger, Barrett.
Alan Devonshire is not the clubs chief scout he’s their actual manager and I suspect he would be reluctant to loose him. However, whilst the lad is only 25 yoa, he has only reached double figures over the last two seasons.

Like Brandon Goodship who scored 37 in 41 at level- yes we've been there. Nonetheless we have people who actually believe signing hungry, indeed severely under nourished, players from that level is the way to go. Happily the current manager isn't one of them. We will see.
You Can’t compare Goodship with Cheek. Ones never played in the NL and the other has been top goal scorer with his 4 NL clubs for the last 6 seasons, reaching double figures on each occasion. Also top goal scorer in NLS with Chelmsford for 2 seasons prior to that.

No my point was Goodship scored the goals at the Conference South and the level below that. Didn't score at NL level (i.e. National League) or above. Cheek is completely different he has scored regularly at NL level (indeed the question is why he has never signed for a L2 club- there will be a reason).
What the comparison shows (or suggests) is the big jump between Conference N & S and the NL (= National League not non-league)

Does anyone have access to the stats database and know how many games Rhys Murphy has played over the last 3 years? i was under the impression that he was quite injury prone, think he was at Arsenal and then moved to the league on a free and has been bouncing around doing well but suffering from injuries regularly.

28 league appearances with 12 goals this season. 30 league appearances scoring 17 goals the season before.

Stats can be found here. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rhys-murphy/profil/spieler/45230

Asante/Hollis/Whelan for us before Asante/Hollisgotnseason ending injuries. Sam Barrett and Orsi for Maidenhead are good. Tshimanga is playing a level or two below where he should be,superb player. Michael Cheek,Paul McCallum,Angelo Balanta all fantastic players at this level. Balanta especially should probably be playing higher. Harry Beautyman great in midfield for Sutton plauing below his level (until they win the league tommorow) but on a very good wage at Sutton,Ben Whitfield at Torquay again I expect to be in the EFL next season with someone else if Torquay don’t go up,John Rooney the best midfielder in the division for Stockport and Paddy Madden too good for this level. There is a lot of standout players I could be here listing them al day to be honest. It’s very much like a League 2.5 this even though it’s known as ‘non-league’ everyone except i think Dover and Maidenhead are full time. It’s not as bad as you may think just really hard to get out of!
Great name, never heard of him.
