Little update for you guys, as was away the last couple of days:
Holmes should be signing, don’t be surprised if that’s today.
We want both the loanees. If push comes to shove, it would be Dennis over the QPR striker, but PB wants both. Dennis is seen more of a wide player by PB, but could be deployed up top as well.
On top of that, we are fairly advanced with another striker.
Maguire-Drew is still bubbling away, but isn’t a priority. Small chance of both him and Dennis, if Dennis goes elsewhere then efforts will be stepped up.
PB wants another CB, ideally two. Work ongoing on that also.
Also, wants Seadon out on loan. Not seen as “real competition” for the no 1 shirt just yet. Could see the Derby keeper signed on a one year deal, and Seadon to become “real competition” next season. Highly regarded, just not quite “ready”.
Work being done on outgoings too. Sim has impressed PB massively, and as Moley said, is at the front of the running (along with Atkinson before his injury).
If PB gets who he wants in and out, the squad will be a lot more balance then it’s been for quite sometime.

Let the speculation commence! Mike Fondop?

Also started his career in Essex with Stanway, Billericay and Whitehawk. That is a good shout. Fondop was released by Burton and is no stranger to the National League.
And he went to Uni in EssexAlso started his career in Essex with Stanway, Billericay and Whitehawk.
The season before he joined Burton he had 4 games 0 goals for Aldershot. Seems like an odd transfer to a league 1 side when you haven't delivered the goods two divisions below you. That is a good shout. Fondop was released by Burton and is no stranger to the National League.
I think if that happens they will probably loan out Rush and sell ANG and AkinolaFondop is a great shout. I wonder where the priorities are with each target though? If PB wants both loanees and this league one striker then Murphy, Dalby, Akinola, Rush, Kargbo, Dennis and L1 chap is a bit overkill.
Unless Dennis and Akinola will be seen as wide players. If so, that’ll give us:
RW/LW:
Akinola, Egbri, Bridge, ANG, Walsh, Dennis? Holmes?
ST:
Murphy, Dalby, Rush, Kargbo, Fondop?
Makes me think ANG might be one of the outgoings and maybe Holmes will be seen as more central attacking midfield player rather than out wide.
As a Blues supporter for almost 60 years, I would have loved to have seen the Manager go for my son in January, when we need a goal scoring striker. It’s also a shame that Brown hasn’t the budget to spend on achieving it now, either.
I think Dennis and Akinola will be seen as more versatile forward options and used on the wing rather than out-and-out strikers. Holmes and to a lesser extent Bridge perhaps seen as more central. And ANG likely offski.Fondop is a great shout. I wonder where the priorities are with each target though? Im hoping it’s Harry Kane and he can have a quiet word. Still probably got more chance of silverware with us than at Spurs. Not sure whether the National League title will scratch that itch for him though.Who is your son?
Interestingly when I did a bit of googling of Dennis, we appear to be the only club who have referred to him as a striker. He was described as a midfielder at Norwich and a utility man at Arsenal. Apparently played all over for them, including right back. Could therefore be an incredibly useful squad player.I think Dennis and Akinola will be seen as more versatile forward options and used on the wing rather than out-and-out strikers. Nor Akinola, despite the reports of him impressing in training. The interesting thing about PBs stance on ANG, is that the other day he said we were 'light in wide areas, only having Walsh and Egbri'. Didnt even acknowledge ANGs existance!
Nice to see you back MMThat is a good shout. Fondop was released by Burton and is no stranger to the National League.
That's not exactly difficult, is it!Great update thank you!
Sounds very promising and PB obviously has identified where we were seriously lacking last season.
