That is a good shout. Fondop was released by Burton and is no stranger to the National League.

Sounds very promising and PB obviously has identified where we were seriously lacking last season.

The season before he joined Burton he had 4 games 0 goals for Aldershot. Seems like an odd transfer to a league 1 side when you haven't delivered the goods two divisions below you.

Just been told by someone he can sometimes be injury proned so hopefully Southend have done their DD

Fondop is a great shout. I wonder where the priorities are with each target though? If PB wants both loanees and this league one striker then Murphy, Dalby, Akinola, Rush, Kargbo, Dennis and L1 chap is a bit overkill.

Unless Dennis and Akinola will be seen as wide players. If so, that’ll give us:

RW/LW:
Akinola, Egbri, Bridge, ANG, Walsh, Dennis? Holmes?

ST:
Murphy, Dalby, Rush, Kargbo, Fondop?

Makes me think ANG might be one of the outgoings and maybe Holmes will be seen as more central attacking midfield player rather than out wide.

I think if that happens they will probably loan out Rush and sell ANG and Akinola

I think Dennis and Akinola will be seen as more versatile forward options and used on the wing rather than out-and-out strikers. Holmes and to a lesser extent Bridge perhaps seen as more central. And ANG likely offski.

Interestingly when I did a bit of googling of Dennis, we appear to be the only club who have referred to him as a striker. He was described as a midfielder at Norwich and a utility man at Arsenal. Apparently played all over for them, including right back. Could therefore be an incredibly useful squad player.

Would also like to see Akinola played wide. He’s not convinced me as a striker, but he scored all his goals for Barnet cutting in off the left wing.

The interesting thing about PBs stance on ANG, is that the other day he said we were 'light in wide areas, only having Walsh and Egbri'. Didnt even acknowledge ANGs existance!

List of Free Agent Strikers, who last played in League One in 2021. Worth noting that if the Striker was on loan in League One last season, they wouldn't be in this list (I think, anyway)
