Question Transfer Deadline today?

That's what I am saying though, we are either linked or we just miss out at the last minute (in the cases you mentioned to Orient & Hamilton) - we all know, or at least think we know why, but it is getting more & more frustrating, especially as this problem has been ongoing for almost half of Tilson's reign!!!

In terms of the triallists, probably other than Jamie Clapham last year or the Latvian guy from Watford who got injured would the majority on here have been happy/content/confident etc etc etc? I know we've only got a limited profile and there's the whole "which agents RM will/won't deal with" issue but it seems as if we always end up with journeyman triallists who the agent is desparate for somebody to take a punt on...

Don't get me wrong, I'm equally as frustated as you and many others on here that we haven't been able to address a problem thats needs to be sorted, but what I'm saying is its obviously been something that has been looked at and we have tried to strengthen but for one reason or another we have missed out on certain players.

To be fair on the trialist front this season, their footballing CV is actually better than anyone we have brought in before on trial. We had De Vries who played top flight football in Holland, Stepanov who has 70 caps for his country, Peter Gilbert who has played regular Championship football, Juan/Jean who has played top flight football in France, the guy that played against Canvey and Chelmsford (So bad I can't remember his name) he'd played top flight football out in Argentina.

So on paper them trialist look a decent bunch and would make most managers interested, but they were either rubbish/went elsewhere or got injured.

We have no money to sign anyone permanently, therefore any speculation like this is pointless.

I don't think that anyone is expecting permanent signings. Most of do hope or expect at least a couple of long term loans so as we can establish a reasonably settled side and not one that will have to be reconstructed when the short term loanees depart in January. Already we can't be 100% sure that M'voto or Sawyer will be with us in 2010.

I know they're young, Yogi, but I can't see them still playing by then...;)

I sure as hell do. If RM is to be believed, the financial "problems" aren't half as bad as some people are making out and the fact we're the only League One club yet to dip into the transfer market is nothing short of diabolical... Especially considering our woeful shortfallings in defence.

I'd expect, at the very minimum, a defender to turn up in the next 24 hours. If not, then I won't hold much hope for a result over the next few weeks.

A word of warning for Friday...............don't expect too much. I'm up at 3.30 that morning and off to Toulouse working........... probably won't be home until after KO.
Hope there will be plenty of action or I'm liable to nod off. Certainly, as I'll be eating, I wouldn't expect any communication from me before the second-half.
Small tit-bit of info........forgive me for tacking on here.........spoke to someone in Leigh last week, who told me that a company had bought The Grand and were going to re-open it as a hotel.

Result! Thanks Yogi - I'm hoping this might be an omen for our club's own business in the transfer market. I will tune into 'Yogi's Yawns' for the second half...:)

I admire your confidence and hope to hell that you are right. I would just rather not set myself up for a disappointment.

If we dont sign anyone up, at least that is a bit of good news!

For such a pretty building, it looks an eyesore with the windows boarded up

There have been a lot of people in and out there this last week, and the lights were on late one night. Fingers crossed it'll re-open soon.

Unfortunately i cannot see any permanent signings being made before tomorrow night. A couple of defensive loanees are a must otherwise i can see it being a very long and depressing winter (and i am not referring to the weather). With no loanees coming in and the inevitable injuries and suspensions due in the forthcoming weeks, i wonder what Ron Martin's expectations this season are with the current squad?.

Bradbury and Harrold came on the last night of the window and pretty much out of the blue...

Maybe we will all be pleasantly surprised when the clock strikes 5pm tomorrow?...

;)
