Trains

So we have gone from Train delays to SZ's very own Crusties Facebook.

Come on people use the chat room for such stuff. Clogs up my reading ;)

Got a call from my son at 6.50p.m., he was marooned at Laindon with another 6 trains in front of him who were reversing back to laindon. Went to collect him and absolute chaos with commuters swarming about like ants and so many cars causing the inevitable gridlock.

One thought i had was that as there was no buses laid on, how the hell could people get home to southend, shoebury etc, if not able to get someone to drive up and collect them?. To get a taxi from there would cost more money than what most people would have in there wallets on a tuesday.

i was on the same train luckily... but i walked to the fortune of war from Laindon to be picked up as i guessed that all of aindon may become gridlocked was home by 7.30

Pay no attention to him, its clear to me me that you had your son whilst still at school and are in fact in your late twenties.
Good to see that you take your boy to the game, I go every week with my Grandad.

I wish! Just back from more chaufferring duties, kids this time. Any word on how the train's are doing tonight? It would be useful to know whether I need to cook his dinner with the rest of ours!

Errrm, hello?

OBL must think she is old anyway, cos of the name she picked and indeed transferred from 606. I on the other hand made up a whole new one...:D

My talents are endless..

When I picked the name I kinda guessed there wouldn't be too many others happy to take it as part of their sobriquet - probably feel a lot older than I actually am because of all the stresses and strains in looking after husband and two teenagers 24.7, something you lot would NEVER understand!

I think I have just been told off again....:(

No, not at all, you were kind enough to greet me when I first signed on to this! Merely pointing out that as the majority of you are blokes you don't have the first clue about what women really have to cope with on a day to day basis. You all think we do our little insignificant jobs and sit at home all day drinking cups of tea or going shopping, well, NO!!!

You don't? :p :D

So, as old as you thought or not then?!

I'd have said late 30s/early 40s judging by some of your posts.

I'd like to think of myself as enlightened to this. I am very grateful for all my wife does for me, although she would probably say from time to time she doesn't feel appreciated enough (I take this more as a symptom of modern life rather than me being complacent!) If I said she sat watching TV all day or out at the shops my life would not be worth living!

My wife often says she spends all day cleaning although by the state of the place I often doubt it! I pointed this out to her to which she reminded me that she also has to look after a 2 year old and a 3 month old - now thats fair enough but don't go making wild exaggerations!

Thanks for that, not too far off! Glad you look after yours, maybe it's just me who's married to a bit of an MCP then!

No, just spend half my life either dropping him off in one or sitting in one waiting for him to get off the train!

I would...Single dad , full time job , two teenagers and the ex trying to get her hands on half the family home......

Billy Best was around between 68 and 73

The Double deckers were on 1970 - 71

So as I reckon OLB is several years younger than me its not so much of the old...

Ok, accepted, maybe too much of a generalisation and just letting off of steam! BTW, don't know how old you are but I'm guessing you're on the right track. Like I said before, the "old" may not be particularly appropriate, just feel a bit ancient at times!
