Training started yesterday?

Funny how whatever the start of the thread is about they all somehow links back to Freddy - do you think we will ever get over the loss? Thats not meant as a dig to anyone I dont want my first day on this board to go badly it just made me think of how things may have been different if he had of come back to us towards the end of last season. We could of been looking at away days to Derby & Reading.....

It also seems to suggest that there will be no more imminent signings as they state that they are expecting to have a couple of trialists in next week for the friendlies

Ah......the delights of "trialist time" where we go to places like Chelmsford to watch players of the calibre of Wayne Grays cousin and some bloke who works in a shoe factory and once played in the Unibond Reserve Div 7 on a cold Wednesday evening in Birkenhead

Rather be beating Col U & Orient ;)

The most worrying thing is brush said we hope to have 1 or 2 people to have a look at next week, if not they will use the youngsters.

COME ON for gods sake we should be getting at least 5 or 6 new players in not just looking at 1 or 2.

If this attitude carrys on regarding players we will struggle to maintain our league 1 status. The squad is desperatly small, new players need time to settle in to adjust to things. This aint a good situation at the moment to be in, only 4 weeks until the start of season, lets hope the club has taken this situation as serious as it took taking our season ticket money for the coming season back in march, which i chose to pay, but the money from shares, freddy etc, has it been spent?

I understand the right players must be got in etc, but nothing seems to be happening on the squad strengthing, relying on youth can be a dangerous game at this level of football. We are not even being linked to players by reliable rumours.

Ah the return of Ron Martin's biggest fan, always good to have the ying and yang on the forum. After all with the news of the new stadium this week has all been pro Ron.

It is interesting reading all your posts over the last few months, you seem to exude negativity.

to be realistic about mildenhall, brush says he needs improvement but this is his first training session and playing in goal you need fast reactions and that comes with practice. if he hasn't played over the summer then he like the rest of them is going to be pretty slow to start off with. so probbaly hard to make a judgement first time you see him.
I think we will be ok and i can see what brushy is saying that if he improves at the same rate as flavs did he will be a very very good goal keeper

And there was me thinking we've spent way more in the past two years than we did for a long time before that.

Looking to spend no more than 130,000 on players does rather to suggest the shares didnt go well

I still think we'll be signing another keeper.

I would have liked us to go for Ben Williams who recently joined Carlisle from Crewe. I'd be interested in fon Williams from Crewe a well thought of young Welsh goalkeeper.

Very promising by all accounts.

Nicky Bailey in training

I have just seen a photo of the squad training in Priory Park. It was in the Evening Echo.

Bailey is still there, but for how much longer???

Anyone got any updates on our wonderboy

Alan Marriott would still be a good candidate for No2 I still think. Perhaps not as highly thought of as a few years back, but a change in scenery and a move to a higher league club, albeit as No2 could help him rediscover his form.

Indeed, and you can't see Clarkey or Foran, and you can make out Bailey has the no. 4 kit and Macca the no. 8.

I'm gonna say it again, we should have pics on the OS. Argghh.

As for Bailey, we have still not had any official bids in for him.

I don't like it that there is no sign of Clarke....

I was hoping that we could sort something out!

someone mentioned that clarkeys house is up for sale... seems like he has gone:'(

To be fair, you can't see everyone in the picture, there is someone just behind Brushy's left shoulder who looks a little like Freddy, but obviously isn't - and there are more legs than there should be for the number of bodies, if you see what I mean. So it is possible one or both are there, but just not visible.
