Training started yesterday?

bluebrian

First XI
Morning to all on shrimperzone. First post for me - just wanted to know if anyone went along to the training ground yesterday and if so can they confirm who turned up for training. Curious to know if Mulgrew, Bailey, Clarke etc were there.

Sorry - not the most exciting first thread but it might give some indication as to players/management intentions.

Yeah I took the session yesterday and they were all there, even Foran and Harrold. Zoltan still turned up as did Rio Alderton, bless them- I reminded "Zoli" that he'd been transferred back to Hungary but he played the old 'I dont understand' trick again. Rio begged me for another chance and even said he'd massage Franck Moussa's feet if I couldn't find anything useful for him to do. Some players were surprised to see me at the helm as it were, as they'd only ever read my posts on Shrimperzone, but after a while they were all laughing and joking as usual. The only player I had to tell off was Paul Furlong who kept on flicking little Johnny Herd's ears when I was giving instructions. I told him that I could have accepted this behaviour from a youngster like Lokando but not from one of my senior pros.

On OS now.

Worrying that Brush seems to think that if Lee Turner can improve Mildenhall, we will be well covered in the goalkeeping position! We only have him and Masters who is a very shaky kid. It also seems that they feel Mildenhall needs improvement.

It also seems to suggest that there will be no more imminent signings as they state that they are expecting to have a couple of trialists in next week for the friendlies but if not, the youths will play!!

All a bit worrying

I read the report on the OS - but thought it didnt really give much information as to the existing players. What I really wanted to know was if Mulgrew turned up for training - if he did I would have thought that would be an indication of him coming to us.

Mulgrew wouldnt be training with us unless we have signed him which we havent.
Does sound worrying about the squad size. I know its only July, blah ,blah but the fact is we need at least 5 quality players in.
Re Mildenhall, yes be a bit worrying if he got an injury but guess we could get an emergency loan in. Personally I think we will sign another keeper.

Thanks for that Wickford Blue - that answers my question. I still personally think/hope hill will come to us and I think he will improve on last season and will be push for player of the season.

Took a sneaky look at the Echo this morning in the newsagents, group photo of players jogging, got to say they are wearing smashing new training kit, youth players were amongst them (to boost numbers?)

i must admit Brushys comments about Mildenhall don't fill me with confidence as he uses words like hopefully improve. I would rather see him say...yes he is our Nr 1 and well worthy of the position

If he didn't need any improvement he'd be playing for Man U or Chelsea on 100k a week. Flav's needed improvement (more than some on here would admit). Brush being realistic shouldn't worry you. What would worry me is if he'd said he's not as good as Flavs or Collis.

Exactly this is the way I feel, all players at our level need improvement. So I just hope he is as good as the previous incumbents.

Also seems the boys are training in Nike kit rather than the Avent of the past few seasons.

The Picture Echo shows a Bailey(number 4) next Barratt (number 6)

The point that I was trying to make was that Brush said "If Mildenhall makes the sort of improvement that Flahavan did when working with lee Turner, we will be well covered in the position". This suggests that if Mildenhall does not make the improvements, we are not well covered.........

even the man u or chelsea keepers keep improving. I took the comments as meaning that he needed improving at our level, ever way it does not read as a glowing reference on the lad !

Would be nice to see some pics on the OS.

Seems to be the most low key return to training ever, yet it's more interesting than usual. Are the transfer listed players there etc. Come on SUFC don't let the OS go to pot whilst Dave is away.

I still think we'll be signing another keeper.
