Unfortunately, they have us over a barrel as there isn't an alternative. Would be interested to see C2C's reply to your email, Artful.

It could be worse.

At least:

1. The trains run on time.
2. There are always plenty of seats.
3. Trains are never cancelled or run short.
4 .Trains are always clean and are never vandalised by gangs of feral youths.

Blimey - that is virtually 10%, so much for the assurance of around 4%. Interested to see at Benfleet this morning a notice saying allow time to buy your ticket, but only 2 clerks on duty selling tickets - bloody wonderful.

Fortunately, i am cushioned for the moment as my ticket does not expire until the end of Jan.

Doubt if you will get much back from c2c management, i have been down that route on a number of occasions.

I enjoyed a cruel laugh as a walked past the line of people queueing for tickets at Benfleet this morning.

I confess i did smile as i fought my way through the throng.

yup, Southend Central had 1 YTS trainee type spotty 16 year old trying to cope with a ticket queue out of the door this morning. Needless to say I and a few others missed our usual train.

But it did mean I got extra sleep on an all stops plodder

Same here...

But they did have 3 people serving as I went through the barriers at about 7.40 - trains were as busy as usual though...

Ken Livingstone has also in his infinite wisdom decided to scrap single zone tube travelcards, as I discovered much to my chagrin.

And a single in zone 1 is now £3!!

Unless you have an Oystercard.

Of course that won't be any consolation to tourists when they come to the UK - they won't be buying Oystercards will they?

How much would it be on an Oyster Card then?

My usual train ticket from Pitsea to Cheltenham has gone up by about £10 and that's just for a single.

I think a single in Zone 1 will be £2 with Oyster.

All Oyster fares are either being reduced or are staying level.

Ken is desperate for everyone in London to have one, so he's making life as tough as possible for cash punters.

Trains are a bloody rip-off these days, especially over here on Great Eastern where most trains are scruffy, slow and never run on time....

You c2c people are lucky!

I agree. One trains are useless! Bring back the steam locomotives!

If you think ONE/Great Eastern are bad, you try going on Wessex Trains over in Cheltenham. They seriously are awful....

If so many people object to Ken Livingstone and his policies why is he still in power ? Congestion charge, tube and bus hikes, getting rid of the Routemaster. I would argue that he doesn't really have London's best interests at heart. £3 for a zone 1 tube journey. That is just a f%&kING joke. I rarely use the underground anyway but what kind of advert is that for tourists ?

I was gobsmacked that he got voted in again - I certainly didn't vote for him!

Sad thing is, I can see him running again in 2008 and he'll probably cruise it once more.

The man's a total arse.

By a similar token, if your tube is delayed by 15 mins or more, you're entitled to a refund for the entire cost of your journey...so claim it!

LU keep quiet about this particular policy (unsurprisingly) but there are forms at every station. Pick one up and claim back your money.
