Train fare rises

Had to post this, as I am flabbergasted at what ATOC are saying in response to the 5.9% rise in fares that you poor sods have to put up with.

Atoc said the fare increase would be used to pay for "new trains, faster services and better stations".

1) There won't be any new trains. Trains are actually leased from leasing companies, most of whom are owned by the major banks.

2) Faster services - How exactly without building a shed load of infrastructure? (which ain't going to happen). Cutting out stops? Breaking strict safety rules? An absolute nonsense.

3) Better stations - franchises are so short there's no gain in a TOC doing more than splashing a bit of paint around.

Let's face it, these ticket prices are being hiked to keep shareholders happy. What a way to run a railway. :nope:
And they've dropped the evening paper, and the first-class fruit cake. Hope my 6% contributes to their return. I want answers MK.

Improvements like no direct Liverpool St to Southend Vic trains after 10:30 pm anymore (apart from the last train at 00:50).

My advice for and C2C/Twitter users is to follow @c2c_rail

They are pretty good with communicating delays/cancellations and respond to questions however they were unable to recommend a decent kebab place for anyone who who happened to wake up in Shoebury.

Because I'm contracting (and don't get paid when I take holiday etc.) I have been buying monthly tickets for First Crapital Connect because it has worked out cheaper than buying a nine month ticket (the length of my original contract). However, I have just bought a ticket to the end of March 2012 (i.e. the end of my recently extended contract) to avoid the fare increase! My first holiday of 2012 will be the second week of April, so that has worked out well for me!

Hopefully my next contract won't be in London!

Now added to my favourites.
To be fair I'd never known them to do engineering work on a Saturday before and nor had anyone I spoke to after the game.Even my best mate's youngest daughter was caught out and she's a fairly savvy net person.

]I havent been on c2c for over 5 years and even I know they do/have done engineering on weekends[/B].

ps I love working from home. Travel expenses down from £260 per month to erm £0.

I was well aware there is often engineering work done on a Sunday. As I said,Saturday was a new one(and not only for me).On a positive note there's supposed to be a Sunday service down on the 2nd Jan.Hope so.:smiles:

I wish the late trains would stop longer at Laindon so I could nip across the road and pick up a doner.

Oysters aren't that good. I had a dozen last night, only 10 of them worked.
