Tories target incapacity benefit recipients.

Look, we all know what the Tories will do when they get into power (and they will win the Election). They will clamp down on benefits, make life harder for those who can't, or those that struggle. It will be back to the "I'm Alright Jack" days. That's what Tories are about.

If you can and if you are able, you may find some positives. But when the **** hits the fan for you, you struggle. Survival of the fitess and all that. No social responsibility.

still you've always got your festivals havent ya

You mean the generation whose parents were brought up in Thatcher's Britain? Can't think where this so-called underclass get their ideals, morals and values from ...

To be fair a lot of the "I deserve something for nothing" culture originated from post war Britain. Alas it's one of the disadvantages of the welfare state. Wherever something is put in place for those worse off, someone else will try to take advantage.

Thats not me saying abolish benefits, just sometimes we have to look at ways to lessen abuse of the system

a lot of the devices and medical equipment markets are fairly competitive. if you want an MRI scanner then there are a variety of manufacturers you can go to. MRI scanners, x-ray machines are expensive because they're very complex pieces of machinery... also the complex way that NHS procurement operates may mean that value for money isn't being achieved. MRIs are expensive too because they require radiologists to spend time to go through them... and Dr's time is expensive too.

Personally if you have an illness then the NHS is there to diagnose and treat that illness... a rebate system for incapacity benefits is an interesting concept though. If something like a back problem can't be diagnosed either by a GP or a specialist then other than going private you can't do much about it. Ideally MRI's would be taken a lot more often for a whole range of conditions, but they require a huge amount of labour and capital resources to run them... also the system is currently so dominated with pharmaceutical costs that a lot of the effort undertaken (by people like me) is to establish when pharmaceuticals are value for money or not. MRI's and other diagnostic tests often get pushed down the lists of priority when looking to optimise services... which generally sees them either not being used at all, or inconsistency when one Dr will do it and another won't. causing stress for patients and pressures on the system.

Sorry should have been more specific and said manufactures there . I know the comple xsystems created by Chip firms and maufactures for teh MRI's for instance are propably like most chip firms and controlled by a very few companies . Also it is a closed market they know they have customers who need this equipment .

Again the bio-tech and pharmaceutical industries are rivalled only the arms industry for making money quick on the stock markets (as a trader once told me if you cant get into munitions medication's your best bet ).

Its still all about the value of teh economic market sadly and how a life or medication can be translated into a quantified value.

Loads of people work with 'bad backs' and feeling a bit 'down in the dumps'.. it galls me that these people are taxed to pay for slackers n skivers who skip of work with a twinge of toothache.. Also why should hard working people not be encouraged to get rich.. Why should they pay punitive taxes to keep a bunch of workshy slackers in Kappa n fags.. I'd sooner see people motivated to want a Jag XF than be motivated to arse around at school and never try to get a job and wonder why life is a 'bit ****' .. You can aspire to a nice £30 k a year job and think thats plenty for anyone.. Or you can aspire for 100k or more , surely you should be encouraged to achieve that? and if you choose to save it and be no burden to the state n look after yourself all well n good.. and should you peg it and leave it to who or what ever you want why should any one else tell you what to do with it? These Tories arnt going far enough yet..

Labour said the answer was to provide "residential homes" (prisons?) for teenage single mums and Conservatives says the answer is to "help" (ha, ha) those on incapacity benefits. I'm pleased they've both got such a grip on the current situation and are not falling into the old trap of blaming the weakest groups in society.

Personally, I think all benefits should be dropped and everyone should be forced into work, however ill they are.

That way, I'll be able to employ cheaper staff who are likely to work harder because they'll be more desperate.
I could certainly do with an additional topiary expert and my yacht is in dire need of a spruce up.

Kind Regards
