In a strange twist in the tale ITV has this to say about our old Castle Point friend 'Dr' Bob Spink:

A former Essex Tory MP who defected to UKIP has been charged in connection with electoral fraud allegations.
They relate to the local election for Castle Point Borough Council in 2016.
Mr Spink, 68, has been charged with five counts of submitting false signatures on nomination papers on or before April 5 2016. Another man, James Parkin, 38, has also been charged with nine counts of the same crime.
The charges relate to nomination papers for prospective UKIP council candidates.
In a statement Mr Spink said; "I am astounded by the accusations and I welcome the chance to clear my name."
Both men will appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on April 25 2017.
