:tumbleweed:

Still a free agent, by all means you can give me stick as soon as the git signs for someone! I'm going put the fella's no on here that told me he is going to sign! if it doesnt happen!

Peace out

I think we're going to get hammered. But each time last season we went into an away when I really thought we'd get hammered we picked up a win. So I'll go 1-0 to Southend.

Happy with that. As long as you keep the same thinking going for the next 40+ league and cup games!

I fear a heavy defeat. We just look too lightweight in midfield, need a brick sh*thouse to break play up and collect the ball from the defence. Without Mohsni there is no height in the attacking areas either. People may deride Luggys style of play last season but we got 83 points. I wonder if Moshni and Grant's absence this season will hit us hard.

If I recall we were without both for large periods last season and we still did alright. Players come and go, we need to move on and I believe we have enough talent to replace them.

MY PREVIEW FOR PETERBOROUGH V SOUTHEND UNITED

Here's a new segment, I am looking at getting off the ground for this season's league and cup fixtures. That is, previewing the match by looking at key players, form, statistics and other interesting info about the upcoming match.

Here is tonight's edition.

Peterborough V Southend.

FORM:

Peterborough:

Manchester United XI 2-0
Stevenage 1-1
Aston Villa 0-2
Norwich 0-2
St Neots Town 6-0

Southend:

LAST 5:

Millwall 1-2
Ipswich 2-1
Rayo Vallecano B 1-1

Head to Head:

Southend 20
Peterborough 21

Last 5 head to head Southend 3 Peterborough 2 Draw 0

Last Time we met in League Cup: 27th of August 1975 Peterborough 3 Southend 0

KEY PLAYERS FOR PETERBOROUGH:

George Boyd:

No real suprises here for many with Boyd being among the key players for the Posh. Not only can he score goals - he contributed 8 in last year's Championship campaign - but he can also provide many assists with Boyd in the top 5 in the Championship last year with 11 during the campaign. If Southend want to have any chance of winning, stopping Boyd will be one of the keys.

Paul Taylor:

Last year's top goalscorer for the Posh will be looking to continue his form into this season. Taylor's 12 goals helped the Posh become the 7th most potent attack in the Championship and Southend's defence will have to be prepared if they are to have any chance tonight.

If Peterborough have a weakness, then it certainly is in defence. Last year, the Posh had the second worst defence in the Championship and before that when they won promotion from League One, it was one of the worst as well. You can guarantee if they score goals, they will also provide chances for the opposition to score. Southend need to take those chances to have any hope of victory.

OUR KEY PLAYER:

Ryan Hall:

As already mentioned in this thread, expect Hall to come out firing tonight as he aims to create attention from bigger clubs. Hall led the club in assists and with Peterborough's defence vulnerable, his attack could be handy for Southend tonight.

PREDICTION:

As our pre-season has been a bit hit and miss so far with injuries, plenty of friendlies and a lack of signings in the midfield and in goal, tonight could be interesting.

The League Cup does tend to provide shocks and while we've been competitive in previous League Cups, we have struggled to build a decent campaign since the famous run when Southend were in the Championship.

Based on our pre-season and the fact that it is away from home, which leans towards us facing a strong Post squad, I have to go for a home win, with lot's of goals.

RESULT: 3-1 Peterborough.

Have money on them as didn't fancy us at all with Bentley making his debut. Still not really convinced I'm any more confident with Belford. Can only see us loosing.

Anyone yet tried to log in to Blues Player? - it's not accepting me in even though I've asked for a new password link and completed that. I'm on direct debit so it can't have lapsed.
