Todays Game...

...i didn't go...as some of u may know because of my thread yesterday...i was working. When we was 1-0 aup i was in a real good mood, kept checking the scores on bbc sport on the tills every 10 or so minutes, and i did so when i was serving a customer, at 16:47, the score read 1-0 to Southend, i thought it was over, but i was wrong! I couldn't believe it, i thought we had it in the bag but i also had a gut feeling, because i kept looking every 10 or so minutes for the score, that we may concede, and we did! And now i am really frustrated...it put me on a downer for the last hour or so at work, i just wanted to get home, what makes it worse is qpr have a game in hand, and they won today- even though they say i'd rather have the points on the board than the games in hand- but they do, they have 1 extra point than us, and with a game in hand. And now, i just have a bad feeling after this result, that if we don't get anything in two weeks against Hull, that it could be au'revoir, please someone tell me we are gonna stay up, please!

We have 4 tough away games left though. Hull, Preston, Plymouth and Southampton. I reckon 4 points from those game would be a decent return, anything more would be a real bonus.

That would mean we would have to win at least 2 of our 3 remain home games against Colchester, Barnsley and Luton. That would give us 49 points, which may just about be enough, given the fixtures of the other clubs.

It's still a big ask and pressure is bound to play apart. No doubt it will be another nail biting end to the season.

I'm bitterly disappointed to drop 2 points yesterday, especially against Leeds. I would have rather drawn 0-0 with Burnley and beaten Leeds 1-0. A six point gap to Leeds would have made it very difficult for them to get above us.

Up the Shrimpers.

Hull will be tough. I hope Southampton keep losing so they're out of playoff contention, perhaps they'll roll over for us if there's nothing to play for.

However my 3 for the drop: Leeds/Luton/Burnley.

I think leeds and luton are down 50 51 points is going to be the bench mark to stay up. There not going to win 5 out of 7. If thats the case then anyone out of 4. Qpr Barnsley,Burnley,or Southend.Prehaps hull if we win up there.

We win a game, people talk about us finishing in top 10 next year, draw one and we are doomed.

We have got 8 points out of the last 12, keep that rate up and beat Luton and Barnsley we will be fine.

We've picked up 7 points from the last 3 games which is a great return. My concern is that these have been against extremely poor teams and our performances have generally far from convinced. Great we've got the points but 'keeping that rate up' is going to be far from straight-forward with that level of perfomance.

I would be more confident if Macca was back for Hull and Foran in for Bradbury.

At this stage of this season and espeicaly in our situation its not about performances its about picking up points by any means like we did against Burnley. We are playing Ok and if we hold our nerve I think we will stay up.

I think we are hanging on by the skin of our teeth at the moment against very poor sides. We should have buried the last few teams at home ...Maybe its nerves I dont know...But we have not been playing at all well at home.

Of course but we won't consistently pick up points for the rest of the season with these type of average performances. We've had a bit of luck and played some very bad teams these last three games.

I'm afraid it's back to what it has been all season & that's a lack of a credible partner for Fredy. We had more than enough chances yesterday to have buried Leeds well before they scored & if you don't take those chances I'm afraid disappointment is all that's coming.

Lee Bradbury set up Gower very well but as a centre forward he was no threat to the weakest back line I've seen for years. The 2 centre halves are professional footballers for only 1 reason, they're pretty tall. No ability at all.

I know people will say Foran missed chances, but at least he had some. When was the last time Bradders had an on target goal attempt? He's a good honest pro, with decent enough skill so before you haraunge me he's not a bad player, just not what we need. Tilly needs to be brave at some time in this run in & shake things up. We've had a good run BUT we're still in the drop zone with 4 away games we could feasibly take 0 points from. Relying on home games like Leeds is a bit dodgy unless we can take a few more of the decent chances we create.

Quite frankly Pete I don't think Eastwood looks up for it either. His mind doesn't seem on it. He is either three yards ahead of play (does he ever look to see if he is onside?) or three yards behind. I have always thought he was a confidence player and at the moment he doesn't seem to have any. If things he does fail to come off he very quickly seems to lose heart. Maybe it is his personal problems but if so perhaps they should be sorted quickly. Remember he became disheartened and gave up football before.

Fredy was unlucky not to score a beauty yesterday. But I agree with what your saying to a point, he doesn't always seem on the same wavelength as his team mates or its the other way round I dont know.

say we do stay up this season, surely bradbury has to be replaced from the starting line up. everyone seems to be scared to say a word against him on here but end of the day strikers need to score goals and to be fare he hasn't. i honestly think if we had another goal scorer to help freddy we would not be where we are now. be truthful as i don't think he has scored more than 3 in the league. don't hold me to that as only a guess.

I thought Fredi looked really 'up for it ' yesterday - more aggressive than normal .

He's not been in the best of health in the last few weeks

I also don't think either Leeds or Burnley were that poor - both teams had done their homework and knew that if they allowed us to pass the ball they would have no chance . Scrappy yes , but not poor.

It just goes to show how far we have come in a very short time if we can call teams like Leeds , Palace , Leicester weaker than us !!!!
