Todays Game & Blue Voice

Once again I seem to have to explain this..The Blue Voice are a group of fans that sit/stand in the same area as a number of other supporters....We have NO control on what people choose to sing and I can assure you Danny any negative chants are NOTHING to do with us. We are doing our best to encourage all to get behind the team.. We are in this for the long run ..It was always going to be hard to change a block of fans midway through a season....I even had a Steward ask me to have a word with somebody today ? Like I control all the end of the West Stand and it would carry favour. This is still in it's infancy and I personally take umbrage when people suggest the bad chants are anything to do with us. Once again today with the help of many others from the Zone we were there at 1PM to give out the sticks etc..The atmosphere was a great improvement today ..ok a few ar$es took it upon themselves to make a few stupid chants. We do not condone this ..but hey they pay for there seats, we dont buy them for them so are entitled to there opinion I guess...When we eventually have a designated area, which will not be this season then perhaps we can impliment a members situation and have ground rules etc ..until then we are stuffed I guess but will carry on with the Clubs backing trying our hardest.

John.

My comments, as you probably are well aware, are not aimed at anything you or others are trying to achieve but when the chants start from that section unfortunately it is seen as the Blue Voice....there was no counteractive singing of shouting down of the negative chants from within the blue voice.....unfortunately if negative charts come from that section then, like me, most people will associate it with Blue Voice which is why i said that you / we need to careful as it did upset quiet a few in block V.

:)

Not to sure what to make of today. Poor 1st half with their 5 in midfield stiffling our play and we didn't adapt. daggers were easily the better side

2nd half totally different and we were the better side. We upped the tempo and seemed to deal with thier midfield better.

Morgan was a class apart even in the 1st half, if this is what he can do from left midfield then can we sign him please.

Harrold held the ball well and did ok as atarget man but can't play football if you know what i mean.

Francis seemed fairly lazy to me and did not protect Hunt

Hunt another game to silence the critics and was probably the 2nd to Morgain for MOM.

Bailey came into his own as the game wore on

Flavs I think he should have done better for their 2nd seemed to make himself smaller at his near post....although Barrett was fouled in the build up.

Now for Blue Voice

I am 100% behind the the cause and really enjoyed the atmosphere that is trying to be created. However, when we went 2 1 down the negative chants started almost immediately....what the f... is going on, where is the eastwood money, we are **** ect ect.

I have to say this ****ed me off more than the goal to the point where i wanted to walk out. but not just me the was probably 20 to 30 people around who felt annoyed at the chants and went we equalized turned to the Voice section in a sort of up yours way......

Again i am 100% behind what Smiffy and all are trying to achieve but this is the 2nd week running that this has happened....chaps you could quickly become the most hated part of the blues support if you are not careful....it was only 2 1 and you turned pretty quick..........

having said that when we were on top or equal.....thoroughly enjoyable...please don't be fair weather singers

Come on you blue boys.......

Be fair at his original size, that is quite an achievement!!

Miracles take a little time Danny sometimes the impossible a Tad longer ...;)

When the negative chants did start me and smiffy did our best to stop them by banging the drums to get other chants going. I did see a few people who started these chants off who were about 16-17 so im guessing they don't go there alot just join in with 1 person so they all chant it.
Also this is the only section we are allowed to be in, so for the time being there's not alot we can do but support the team.
Bring on the 4th round :-)

I would just like to add a big thanks to Scamps, Flaming Moe, MadaboutBlues and her family. Southminster,Charlie and her friend ..and the others that took 2 hours out of there day to give out the sticks.....

Well done all of you.

It's a great effort by all to give up their time, so well done all of you.

As far as distribution of the sticks in the East Blacks, they were in a box by the turnstile, although it didn't stop plenty of kids picking them up. Hopefully there are plenty left over for future home games.

don't matter who you playing. support through good and bad times. simple as.

Totally agree, the negative chants are a disgrace. Yes we were losing 2 -1 to a team that was non league last season, yes it hurt like mad, yes the performance was not the best (well poor in parts), but these are players that are so low on confidence, they look to us to lift them !!! No one wanted the ball at times today, for fear of being barracked.

Come on guys (this is directed at everyone) when the chanting is positive is is brilliant and the players lap it up, but they also need us 100% behind them when they are behind !! They do not LOSE on purpose !!!

Some of the chants , such as "we are sh*t and we stink of it", is not gonna help at all - you can tell this affects the players - this does not help.

IF they are poor , boo them briefly AFTER the game - but during it is our job to lift and SUPPORT them .

We love Southend, but we must expect that we will not win every single game, but when the chips are down, the least we can do is back them !!

At two one down, the negaitive barracking was disappointing and like another thread on here hurt more than the goal - I was also around the group that turned and stuck there fingers to the negitive group in the West Stand, dont alienate yourselves from your own fans as well, no one likes to hear some of teh cr*p that is aimed at the team we love.

Up the Blues

Quick summary of today from me.

I was a big hater of Lewis Hunt (never boo or slag him off I might add) but today he was the best player on the pitch, he was awesome I thought and has really really improved!

The support and noise today was excellent, I got very peed off with the chanting when we went 2-1 down as did people around me and we soon turned around and gave them signs (which they didnt like)

When we move into FF we can push these out and ONLY have real fans in TBV section, this will be great! Until then we need to tell them all too shout up as one and carry on supporting the team (drums etc etc) They will soon learn we don't tollerate it!

Overall, well done everyone involved but I think we need block X back for the flags etc etc

just a quick thought on morgan. a lot of people have been praising him and saying that we should sign him. well we all know that he is going to leeds so that answers that point. in addition, he has had one good game for us during his loan spell. that was today and even then i didnt think he was all that. yes he scored a cracking goal, but his all round play and distribution was poor. we must remember he couldnt get into a struggling luton side and has not looked comfortable on the wing or upfront. today he over complicated things when the simple was on and im really not upset hes going. thanks dean and good luck.

I'm not that gutted we're not getting Morgan. As the previous poster said, today was by far his best game and he was probably more up for it knowing that Leeds had an eye on him. He wasn't even that good. He takes too long to cross the ball, too many tricks and his passing isn't great.

Didn't think today was a massive improvement. 5-2 is a very flattering scoreline, the last 2 goals were a joke and we were playing a poor side. In spells we were good but in spells we were just as bad as New Years Day. 1st half we were too slow getting forward and MacDonald was up there on his own a lot of the time because Harold, Bailey etc weren't getting up quick enough. Our defending from set pieces was poor as usual and I thought Francis was poor again despite his goal. Lets hope Scannell is good and that we get a striker or two.

On the positive side, Charlie, Hammell and Lewis had another good game and the atmosphere was much better, except for the negative chants after Dagenhams 2nd goal.

good comments shrimpboy. agree with what you said. feel sorry for charlie mac. i think most of us want him to suceed but we are not playing to his strengths which are keeping the ball on the carpet and give him the chance to finish. all this long ball crap is not suiting his game. on todays game thought we were poor for most part and only won comfortably because we were playing a poor outfit in the daggers.

The atmosphere generated through most of the game was good but those pricks who sit behind me (west Stand Block V and those in block W) have nothing to do with The Blue Voice, in my eyes they're nothing to do with Southend United Football Club. Mindless, idiotic and sometimes just down right ****ing thick, I very nearly walked out at the sheer anger that I felt, 'We're **** and we're sick of it?' Well don't ****ing come to Roots Hall for the sole purpose of demeaning the team/manager/chairman when things aren't going our way.

We want Southend United SUPPORTERS!!!!!!!!!

Drowning the negs out with the drums seemed to be quite effective, if that can be continued they might get the message. Was sitting other end of West stand today and apart from a few calls for Tilly to pack his bags and Harrold to go away politely at predictable points in the match, most comments were supportive.

The cheerstixs definitely gave something extra to the support. Please let's try and keep them for the Leeds game and not waste them in the meantime!

Well done to all connected with TBV, your involvement today helped create one of the best atmospheres seen at RH in a long time.

Lewis "Cafu" Hunt was actually good yesterday. Much improved from the absolute dross he served up at Doncaster... although admittedly out of position and having to cater for Gower's inability to track back as well.

I feel sorry for Simon Francis, playing out of position but still putting in great performances and, bar an Injury, will never get picked ahead of Hunt.

Thanks blue lady, thats our aim, to help raise the noise levels and make the day much more enjoyable for all.

The Cheerstix were a big plus and most appreciated them which is good. We may use them again in the future!

Well done to 99% of you yesterday, the improvement was there for all to hear. As for the minority, jesus you are a fickle lot, 1 minute your saying 'wheres eastwoods money gone' the next chant is 'southend we love you' can you not see the fickleness? Give it a rest, its not wanted at sufc.
