today's performance

I despair of some of the people on here I really do. We've won 3-0 and absolutely cruised through the game, half the players out there did take their foot off a bit after the 2nd goal its true - but we have a game on Monday and that conserved energy against a side who have undoubtedly had a tough game at Orient today may well give us a better chance of another 3pts at Kiddy. I suppose some people will be moaning when that happens too?! Words fail me....

The performance wasn't the best I've ever seen but it didn't need to be. We've barely got out of second gear today and we've still won by three, hit the woodwork and had a few cleared off the line. Rushden were a terrible, terrible team and the gulf in class between them and us was massive.

Yes and unfortunately there's little chance of them doing us a favour against Swansea on Monday.

I agree to an extent with CSJ.

I don't think this current team is showing enough killer instinct. Personally I thought Rushden were there for the taking today, and we should have been looking to score enough to make the vidiprinter spell out our score. Its a minor grumble, but I think our team is good enough to regularly score 5 plus goals against this division's strugglers - at least in games once we've secured an early lead. We may seem defensively fairly secure since Bart has returned to goal, but I believe the best form of defence is attack and would rather see us dictating play in the opposition half. I think we are good enough to do so, but we seem to lack the desire to do so and repeatedly take our foot off the gas once we're in the lead.

CSJ, did you go to the game today?

How on earth can you call that a below par performance, no one else agrees with you

It wasn't the best performance of the season but it didn't need to be, at the end of the day we won 3-0 and did so very comfortably. Yes Rushden were a woeful side (with a keeper who requires anger management

)and on this performance they'll be staying in the bottom 4 for a long time, but we managed to kill them off which is something we've failed to do in the past, whilst at the same time increasing our goal difference by 3 which is good with the league being so tight at the moment.

I thought it was a good performance today after Tuesday's disappointment. It was good of Tilson to make the brave changes he did, maybe he does go on these boards

He's shown Eastwood that he's not undroppable, and I thought Bramble was superb today. People often accuse of him being lazy but today he really put himself about and was my MoTM, much better up front than he is on the wing. Playing Nicolau on the wing gave us a lot of width which is something we've lacked this season. We were playing the ball down the wing and getting good crosses in and that's why we created so many chances. I hope Nicolau starts at Kiddy because his delivery for crosses and set pieces is better than anyone else's in the squad. Dudfield had a quiet game though, I thought, and I'd recall Eastwood for Monday.

I don't know about the first one, but for the second one he had a shot saved and Edwards got the rebound. He didn't have a bad game, he just had a fairly quiet game.

What are you talking about? How often do teams score 5 plus goals?

it seems that whatever i say on this board, my views are torn to pieces and disected. But, as i said, we played better today than last tuesday, but...all im saying, and the point im trying to make is that we won't be auto-promo contenders unless we put 4 or 5 past these type of teams, its what swansea does. but it is nice to keep another clean sheet, and surely we have bart to thank for that...
we have one man to thank for all this...stevie tilson, look where he has brought us from this time last year. And mr martin was contemplating not giving him the job! remember?

game was all over, it didn't matter. resting lawries legs.

Fair game, but surely we are auto-promotion contenders being in 4th place as we are? Ignoring the first five games of the season when we didnt win, we have been averaging 2 points a game!

Christ. Below par?

On another day we'd have been 4 up by half time. The luck wasn't particularly with us and their keeper made a couple of incredible saves.

In my book, a win's a win and three nil's very comfortable.

And of course, our two frontline strikers were rested, we had an experimental setup on the left and our most talented player missed the game through injury. Can't we just bask in the fact that we won and won comfortably?

On the subject of goals scored, goal difference etc., perhaps it's also worth mentioning that:

--> we've scored 4 fewer goals than Sc**thorpe (1 fewer at home)

--> we've scored a couple more than Swansea both home and away.

Perhaps it's the 20 goals we've conceded away from home that's doing the GD some harm (incidentally, 20's more than Rushden and Cambridge).

Good atmosphere in the old "F" block...but unfortunately some racist comments were passed towards the officials again..but overall, a good atmosphere

was just sorting out my cookies, (not the chocolate ones) laughing out loud..
but i think there was a really warm and buzzing atmosphere today
