Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
This is from the Oxford official site

However their game plan changed on 27 minutes as the traditional red card in this fixture went the way of Timlin. Already booked for a foul on Damian Batt the former Swindon midfielder needlessly tripped Forster-Caskey as he looked to bring the ball out of defence, and ref Oli Langford had no choice but to show a second yellow card.

Sour grapes after last years red card against them and the fact that Timlin is ex Swindon?

Judging by the commentary on bbc radio Essex they said it was never a red card, then after viewing it again reiterated that fact.

Not to be picky, but the only question that matters is: Was the second challenge a yellow card offence?

If it was, then the red card was deserved. If the commentators (let's face it, they're as biased as we are and we love 'em for it) think he didn't deserve to get sent off for the second challenge, it's irrelevant.

I'm not commenting on the challenge and decision themselves though as I didn't see them.

As soon as I saw the trip I said to my son that it deserved a 2nd yellow. It was a needless challenge and it set the scene for the rest of the game. In my opinion Timlin lacks a bit of self control. (p.s. Straker had a shocker!)

cresswell up front just does not work need tomlin, corr or eastwood even though hes injured and our defence over the last two games have just been sluggish and have had no communication so even with the sending off we probibly deserved to lose even though i must agree he did not deserve the sending off. and once again sturrock does not make the right decission or makes the subs to late. so in full we need to beat northampton for confidence.

Never two yellows, ref was inconsistent all night, crap linos too. Their No.10 Smalley was a lump and elbows/tugged allnight with no apparent ref interest at all. That said we were POOR with no threat and only a hope of a chance from set pieces as our game plan. Best thing about night was Barry Corr sitting with his missus in with us all.

I didn't go, so can't really make judgement, but there were only two yellow cards shown all night and to the same player within 5 minutes. That, to me, sounds unbelievably inconsistent.

Get used to it, that's as good as Straker gets

For the second booking, the ref instantly reached for the yellow. Then hesitated when he realised it was Timlin, before finally pulling the yellow and the red.Make of that what you will.

It's a shame BBC can't be bothered to post highlights of every match on their website like they did last year, that would end the debate in about 30 seconds.

I don't think either were bookings but it was typical Timlin, out of position and eager to make up for that. On the ball he's a good player but he has a tendency to get pulled about and leave holes. First booking wide left on the right back, second booking after being mugged on the edge of their box.

I can see why the refs given him his second yellow to be fair. Needless flick out at the oxford player. Saying that, normally when a player is already booked they get a lifeline.

Defending was absolutely shocking on several occasions there.

Did someone say he made the subs too late? 65 minutes isn't really too late in my book.

Bad defending for both goals. Cresswell shouldn't be beaten so easily for the second, Straker completely in the wrong place for the first.

OMG

What a complete and utter joke. 1st booking was harsh, it was a strong sliding tackle that actually won the ball, he did not jump in, his studs were not showing, free kick at worst.

As for the 2nd one, that was even more laughable, there wasn't even a tackle?

imo the first tackle was a yellow the second one if it wasn't so serious is laughable. there is no way a yellow should have been given here the oxford player clearly ran across the front of timlin.
some of these refs need to be given a red card.
