The Wee Birdie
A wee birdie told me that the fee for Timlin was his total wages that Swindon kindly kept paying until today a kindly gesture. Benyon was a very small nominal fee and Martin there was no fee and Derby have negotiated a pay off for him and an agreed sell on if sold.

I just hope the same wee birdie realises that no matter how good the deals were if we don't stop playing hoofball you won't have enough gate receipts to pay them......people are seriously ****ed off with this "style" of play.

The thing I don't get is we were told 3 months ago that we were at the limit for the wage cap and now we've got to find wages for the three that have signed this week and possibly 2 more. Ok we've knocked JJ's wages off the bill and Daniels(if we were paying for him) but that still leaves a deficit doesn't it?

While I agree with you about the style of football, people won't stop coming if we maintain our position in the top 3 people will still keep coming and attendances will increase.

Like many on here I suspect, I am just delighted to have two new players in and Timlin signed up. I was always worried that someone else was going to pip us at the post for his signature. And fees being paid even if small is a great step forward. Oops sorry im getting my hopes up again:smile:

If true then its a bloody good bit of business on paper and very well done to the wee birdie.

Cunning I know, but hey have you ever thought that 'We're at the top of our pay structure' mayjust be lip service to the faithful?? It sounds better than 'listen we and youknow we could be doing a lot more in the transfer market and we are not even at3/4 of our wage structure yet but quite simply our hands are tied??' Yes sure I’ma woman so as in life and on here, I can't quite believe how gullible you guysare and can be??? Do you hang on the word of every sentence ever said hu??

Agreed but how long are we likely to keep that top 3 place playing the way we did against Daggers?

Must confess I thought we'd lose Timlin to a higher bidder, glad to be wrong! I do think it would be a shame if Sawyer goes, even if he doesn't fit our style at the moment he's one of the most naturally gifted player in the squad & would be useful in L1 (if we get there) if we decide to play more on the deck.

People are indeed fed up of the style of football, but as I demonstrated in another thread our gates are no different to the last time we were in this division playing nicer football.

We will never get the gates we got in the higher divisions when in League Two, although thats not dismissing the fact the way we play is not nice to watch.

It's effectively two new wages, as we were paying Timlin's wages whilst on loan.

So that's Johnson and Daniels off the wage bill and Martin and Benyon on.

There's also the possibility that our cap has increased if gates have gone up since we emerged as title contenders. There's apparently some sort of mid-season adjustment. I also recall something in the dim and distant past about players under 21(?) not counting against the cap - ie off-loading Ferdinand, Crawford, Asante etc may not actually create any more room.

As far as I know all the crap about another club being in for Timlin was all bolleaux, and created by his agent.

That's contradictory to what the thread starter stated.....

Totally agree with this & isn't it nice to see that the originator of this thread has also ignored the many posts doubting the current "style" of play after the Bradford & Daggers shambles.
