Time for a new Battle of?

Books is niche, I would suggest Authors would be a better subject. I don't fancy my chances with my favourite Author Jack Kerouac, my fave is Dharma Bums but most people have only read On the Road and even that is unlikely.

So I'll plump for Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

On the grounds that not many on here may have read Gates of Fire, here is a brief synopsis: 480 B.C., an invading Persian army, two-million strong, came to the mountain pass of Thermopylae in eastern Greece. Led by King Xerxes, they were met by the finest three hundred Spartan warriors where the rocky confines were so narrow that the Persian multitudes and their cavalry would be at least partially neutralized. Here, the Greek loyalists hoped, the elite force could hold off, at least for a short while, the invading millions. It's a 'can't put it down' book if you like Greek fictional history and you feel like you were there.

TKAMB would have been my first choice too ( and MK , don't be in any rush to see the film. Although Gregory Peck is superb , it is a pale shadow of the book , which is best read outside on a very hot summers day IMO ).

As it's been taken , I will choose The Bible by various artists.

My pick would be "The Lord of the Rings" by JRR Tolkein
but if that's not allowed (due to being 3 books in 1), I'll nominate my son's favourite bedtime book "The Gruffalo" by Julia Donaldson

I changed mine, so you're down for TKAMB.

Battle of the illegal fighting dog breeds.

No Bible, no Quran, Book of the dead, The Great Spaghetti Monster nonsense or any other religious tome! Or dogs that fight - dogs that solve crime, yes!

LOTR is fine mate, I've gone for a (better) trilogy :winking:

And if you don't it sounds pretty boring. I would pick something else mate you won't win with than one.

Yeah, thanks for the advice, but I'm a SUFC supporter, and on that basis it's the taking part that is important not the winning!!
