Tilson

ldnfatso

Red Rep King!
Given Tilly has been with us for nearly 5 1/2 years now, do you feel he may move on to pastures new at the end of the season?
Do you feel Tilly has done all he can with SUFC and perhaps needs a new challenge?
Do we look stale and in need of new direction?

1) No he wont
2) No he hasnt
3) Yes but we need more money so we can buy better players.

Thats all, close the thread mods.

No, no and no.

Tilly has hard earned job security with us, a challenge ahead in managing the next phase of our history once the stadium is built and we're currently, against all odds, the best team in the division.

No, no and no quite frankly.

He's got a fair bit of security with Uncle Ronald in charge - thank god he didn't knee-jerk sack him during our miserable winter spells both this and last season, not to mention when we dropped out of the Championship.

Probably not.

No.

Stale? No!

Providing we aren't overly successful, I feel Tilson could be our Dario Gradi so to speak... He clearly has a job for life under RM and would be rather foolish to walk out on the club into a set-up where his position isn't quite so secure, especially in this day and age.

That thought has crossed my mind, too. At some point in the future to have the longest serving manager in the country, and a local boy at that, would be awesome.

No, I can't see Tilson leaving come summer time. Our form recently has been excellent and shows to him we have the nucleaus of a good squad here and with a few additions we will be more of a challenger next season.

Realistically, who would come in for Tilson? His stock has dropped since our relegation from the Championship. I don't think his as highly rated by "outsiders" now as his was back then. People will look at the likes of Darren Ferguson etc rather than Tilson and long may that continue.

Nope, nope, not really, 10 wins from 13 speaks for itself, we just need to replace Dorian and Theo and stable up some other areas.

I hope Tilson stays and has a couple of seasons at least in the new stadium with 'hopefully' the extra money that produces... Mind you that will be another 5 years at best! ..

I'll join the no,no,no brigade.
Obviously people are going to notice Tilly is a fine manager and occasionally try and tempt him away from us, but I think it would take a big club with a big bank balance to tempt him away. I don't think such a club would take a chance on Tilly having only managed us.
I really think Norwich was a threat the other year and he may have been interested, but expectations there are quite high, and frankly, I don't think they have the resources to achieve it. Hiding to nothing

I have never once, even slightly agreed that we should have a change. He is Mr Southend and I cannot see many situations where I wouldn't stick by him whilst we are still a league side.

Dispite having our best players leave - Maher, Bailey, Gower, Flavs etc, we still manage to put together a team that can challange for promotion (if only some of the loanees hadn't gone back so early ;-()

Money can't buy this kind of set-up (Ron, Tilly, Brush & Duncan), and to have a successful management team to boot, we really don't know how lucky we are!

I don't feel that Tilly will get any offers which would tempt him away from RH

As things currently stand, he has done about all he can do, A little bit of luck with a couple of with players (Freddie , Gower etc) and we got into the next tier, which were he to unearth a couple of gems could be repeated. But for anyone to progress us any higher permenantly will take investment currently not available to us or most of the bottom two divisions

No we don't look stale, we look like a club performing to the limits of its capabilities.

Next season will be our 5th consecutive season outstide of the bottom Tier , the third longest spell in our history, I honestly expect us to remain where we are , around top 12 for a few more seasons yet, when it will become apparent whether our financial fortunes will change or not and if they do we may well press on for Championship consolidation.
Relegation before around 2013 and I would expect Tilly to go.

No wonder you get so much red rep Steve ... silly question, silly thread, silly season comes early ...

Oh, and NO NO and NO naturally

We had this question a few months ago when the Norwich job came up.

When we got promoted, Tilson was linked with a number of positions, but I've not heard anything lately.

Tilson turned our season round yet again and I can't see anyone out their that would make a better job of it.

success comes with time and we have luckily got some early on with tilly but if u look at any successful club, they have a stable management team and longevity. so yes tilly should stay!
