Tilson on Player

palexander

Life President
Just watching Tilsons interview;

* Revs wasnt 'top of the list' to go out.

* Name was circulated a few weeks back as agreed he would benefit a month away (not against this personally).

* Tilson confirms it WAS financial reasons (goes against King - total proof) - says needs to get "1 or 2 out, to get 1 or 2 in".

* Says was a good time to get Revell in the team and admits it looks 'odd' that he has now gone out on loan.

* Said that he is not going to 'stand there and say Revell was not performing as that isnt the case'

* Virtually said he would have 'preferred' someone other than Revell to go.

Trying to listen to the rest... keeps buffering...

* used the phrase 'a bit bare' :D

* will be starting 11 and 5 subs tomorrow - says the 7 subs rule is 'pathetic'

* Skirted a little bit around the Macca issue. He did say things are 'tight' money wise... so why turn down £200k bid (thats me, not Tilly!) - contradictions, not really from Tilly to be fair, but from the board.

* Ended saying he has read 'little things here and there', but the focus is 3 points Friday.

Seemed a fair enough interview - feel sorry for him. For all my lambasting of him last season and whatever I think of him personally ability wise, I cannot deny he is now operating under extreme circumstances.

He and the players will have my full support tomorrow thats for sure!

For once, what Tilson says tallies with what Ron said. Echo article also correct. Geoff King still taking on role as pantomime burk. Thanks for posting.

Makes sense really - like it or not we can't be adding to the wage bill with our cash situation the way it is. We are top heavy with strikers (well, relatively) so it figures we needed to ship out to sign in.

Load of old bollocks really. King spouting bollocks as usual. Proof from Tilly. Martin sidestepping the issues in his blog to rant about the Echo. Tilly must be so ****ed off now with this club. Definitly wouldn't blame him if he left.

Just listened to the interview.

It is clearly the case that a couple have to go out so a couple can come in. Nothing wrong with that when things are tight.

Tilly said that if others could have gone out then they would have. This means to me that Revs and Betsy have gone as they were the ones enquired about in the window.

He said it's tight and we all know it's tight.

Re Macca he actually said that we want to keep our best players. That sounds to me like he doesn't want him to go.

He also said that if he can't choose 3 from 5 subs then he shouldn't be doing what he's doing so 7 subs is a mockery.

All in all a decent interview in a difficult week. I'm sure that if other players were enquired about to go out on loan then they would have gone ahead of Revell.

That's one way of looking at it

My sources tell me that Walker was top of the list to be shipped out but sadly Stevie Wonder doesnt manage any football league club.

On the Macca point, I found it strange he didnt dwell on it too much - almost seemed embarrassed to me and changed the subject fairly quickly? Dunno...

On the last point, I reckon we might see others leave next week? As long as they are replaced, then I dont see a problem - all this 'squad building' bollocks is pie-in-the-sky for now.

I think (or would hope!) people aren't so stupid and ignorant to realise that we cannot magic money to buy players and things ARE tight. But the board should think seriously about its media output as not all of us are naive and will eat up whatever is put out as 'the truth'.

Its highly unlikely we will make any permanent deals in the near future (i.e. this season!) and who knows how far beyond - fair enough, but call it as it is!

Its a question of can we keep in this division relying on swapping short term loanee's around?!

Oh dear, once again dissing the man who helped the team into the play-offs which in itself was a remarkable feat. Team game my friend and Walker was a large part of it.

2 years ago... lot can change in that time...

Southend have proved the phrase again "a week is a long time in football".

Revell probably wasn't top of his list of players to go, but he was certainly on it. I'm guessing here but I reckon Walker was top of his list, but if nobody shows an interest then we are stuck with him.

I'm guessing it wasn't just Revell's name that was banded about if we are trying to clear the decks a little bit. Obviously Betsy was on the list as well, and probably one or two others.

What Tilson says about it being financial reasons, thats something I said from the start. We obviously have a wage budget set by RM, and this season is less then last season hence not much of a fight being put up to keep Clarke. Tilson has probably gone to RM and said I want to bring in 2/3 players, and RM has turned round and said room needs to be cleared on the wage budget, which is fair enough.

We didn't get rid of Revell and Betsy on loan because we are skint, although we are, but to clear the room on the wage bill to bring in some other players.

if anything i thought he was more open then the last few inerviews, seemed like an honest appraisal of the situation, just got to keep playing well, get some points and pray for no injuries!

Which actually has been my point over the last few days.

There is ALWAYS more than one way of looking at it and your perspective depends on your agenda.

Maybe so. Let me ask you this fbm, if Tilly were to hand his resignation in over the weekend, who would you blame? Tilly? The players? The club?

It seems like many people are split in thier decisions. I think one topic (nearly) everyone can agree on is that it is imperitive that Tilly stays at this club. With the crap he's had to put up with over the last few years, it surely won't be long before he washes his hands of it all.
