Remember at a friendly in 2006 Tillys dad told me that Peter Taylor had recommended him for the Hull job after he left for Palace but that Steve wanted to stay with us.Not saying he would have got it but would probably been in with a good shout if he wanted to go for it.
 
Think you will find that Tilly wasn't sacked in the true sense of the word. As far as I aware he is still working at Seevic, has a business in Basildon so certainly not short of work. Perhaps it was a parting of the ways by mutual consent and Canvey was getting in the way of everything else.
 
Tilly was "released" by Canvey according to the echo last year,mainly because the club felt he was not using the clubs reserve or youth players and Canvey felt this was why they did not make the play offs.
