Tilly to Albion

fbm

Blue tinted optimist⭐🦐
He has made the final 4 on the shortlist, they have made an official approach and Ron wants £250K in compensation.

His competition is Steve Cotterill, Alex McLeish and Tony Mowbray.

Sounds ominous.

All from the Echo.

No way would Ron let him go...

If he does he will have ruined all the hard work that has been put in, and he quite frankly can shove the stadium up his ******* if he does.

I have faith in Ron and Tilly though, now is not the time to leave.

Can someone explain to me (in the cheap seats) why managers are so "under-valued" when it comes to compensation. When you consider where we were pre-Tilson and where we are now, there's a direct correlation between our performance and our management team.

With players going for daft sums because of the impact they can have on their team, why not managers? Without even commenting on how realistic a move for Tilly by Albion might or might not be, how on earth can someone like Tilly's value be equated to that of one Billy Paynter?

Regardless of the outcome I still want the new stadium.

Players and managers come and go.

Indeed the stadium is top priority but it would be a devastating blow to lose Tilly. £250k is a joke for a guy whos won successive promotions. Why are managers always valued so low compared to players?

it must be very difficult to keep a manager if he wants to go so any compensation is better than none.
Personally I think he will stay. I dont think his reputation or experience or age will make him want to manage some of the WBA big names.
He knows hes and "up and coming" manager and he has plenty of time and will have opportunities in the future.

I cant see how Ron Martin would be only looking for £250k, Parkinson went for more than that. (£500k wasnt it ?)

That figure must be made up, if Ron was even enternaining the idea surely he would be suggesting a much higher figure even as a starting point.

Could be in his contract.. not sure if Tilson would enjoy managing the likes of Hartson at this stage of his career.. As for the new stadium.. as pointed out players n managers come and go..lots will come and go before any Southend Team runs out a the Farm..

West brom have a 4 page thread where Dave Jones seems favourite, Tilson isnt mentioned once. Off their forum :

Exactly my point, which is also why he wouldnt want Stan Collymore back at Roots Hall.

Its just the echo creating a story.

I doubt he is even on a "shortlist".

The bookies think he hasnt much chance, the WBA fans arent even mentioning him at all, and quoted 250k as something Ron asked for which is a ridiculous figure for him to ask for.

Slow news day I reckon.

I thought Parkinson went for 750k

I find it all quite amusing that you are all saying that Tilly wouldnt want to manage a club like WBA, or players like John Hartson at this stage in his early career, and yet in the next breath, saying he is worth much more than £250,000!! It cant be both.

Tilly isnt that inexperienced anymore, he has been managing for nearly three years now, thats more than some Premiership managers, so dont be thinking the reason he wouldnt go to WBA is because of inexperience, because thats just nonsense.

I dont think he will go because

A. WBA fans are demanding a much bigger name than Tilly and

B. I simply dont believe he is on WBA's shortlist of next managers.

Tilly is Blue through and through of course, and this might be a deciding factor, but lets all be honest here, WBA would offer him a substantially higher salary than we would, with a genuine chance of managing in the Premiership next year with one of the biggest clubs currently in the Championship. Dont lets kid ourselves that his love of Southend would be greater than that kind of offer, because it wouldnt. He is only human, and has a wife and kids and no doubt a large mortgage to take care of.

But, as I say, I dont think its a goer, so I think we can relax on that score... for now!
