Tilly does not trust the players he has.

I thought Bentley leaving was more a combination of him wanting a longer term contract than SUFC could offer him and a worry on his side that he wasn't cut out for higher league football?

Yeah, having just had a baby I think he wanted a higher level of security with his next contract, more than he could have got from SUFC.

icouldnt belive it when he let gray and bently go both are better than the new players we have hammell and francis good going forward but they cant defend and clarke who i thought was going to be a fantastic signing has been poor and i bet this new players are on more money than what gray on bentley wanted i know this league is tough but look at Col******r also gray and bently were worth money its been very disappointing but we can still get our selfs out of this hole

Isn't that a bit like comparing Eastwood to Flahavan? They play in different positions.

Gray was rubbish.

I think Bentley could have done a job for us, but having seen him leave the mistake was in not replacing him.

i heard jay smith and tilly have had a long running bust up that goes back all the way to the ldv van final when he was "dropped"

apparently tilly and jay havent really seen eye to eye since then

Jay was injured for both LDV finals. Plus Tilly has given him new contracts the last two summers. I don't think theres any conspiracy here.

thats what i thought but my mates "contact" is a genuine friend of jays and i wouldnt really have any reason not to believe him. i think tilly obviously knows that a fit and hungry jay smith could walk into our team, its just getting him back to his best which has been hard

I reckon having a bit of muscle like Jupp & Bentley in the side is just what we need at the moment.

The money we spent on Painter will not be recouped that much is obvious....

Too many changes in the side has not done us any favours..

Tilly & Brush are our future but we need to sort it out quickly..

Bentley chose the extra security of a two year offer at Gillingham over our 1 year offer (The same as Jupp)
Teletext reported yesterday that Cole has left Northampton because Tilly wanted him back at Southend.

Ha ha, good one

I must have missed something...

You're talking about Gray? Wayne Gray? The guy who had 100 metre sprint trials for his country, but rarely got back onside or chased after anything? And the guy whose confidence was so bad that, even after scoring and being in a team top of the league and out of its depth, could barely summon the will to move?

Bentley would have been sent off every other game in this league too. Great player for us and a cult legend, but I'm not sure he'd have ever been the answer to any of our current issues
