Tilly closing in on loan targets

Surely the most important thing for Southend is to ensure we stay up this season and that has to be the first thing to sort out.
Loans, buying, training Cricko and co etc. Whatever it needs short term to sort this out. Once thats sorted they can start rebuilding, geling, buying, selling etc.
We need players and short term they are trying to do it IMO.
Why buy one when you could borrow a couple/few to help get us to a comfortable end to the season.
Maybe Im talking rubbish but thats how I see it just now.

And Sawyer as well I believe.

Looks promising. Fingers crossed.

I have been thinking about that, although I hope that this story won't turn into another 'Freddy is coming back' saga. It's not that I don't wish him well at Coventry but of it wouldn't harm our cause if he wasn't overly successful!

gotta echo the sentiment here, ok if loans is all we can get to bolster the squad so be it,but to be honest are we really gonna be looking at depending on loanees in a relegation scrap, personally i think its about time we decided to open the purse strings a bit (let the moths out) and try to buy some talent, cause without that i can see us going only one way and thats something we dont wanna talk about.

With all this talk of loan deals would someone tell me how much money we made from the unexpected and unbudgetted for Chelsea games.

There must be extra in the pot what with the away day at Chelsea and home match with the TV rights??

Where has this money gone or where is it going????

Just a question as we hear of so many teams in financial difficulties who would probably welcome the chance to sell even their best players for hard cash.

What worries me is, as I said in a previous thread, the gate against Yeovil could be an indicator as to what to expect for the rest of the season. So what was the budget at the start of the season?? 7500/8000 per game??

Anyone know......

The budget was for 8,000 crowds. Between now and the end of the season the only games we will exceed this will be against Millwall and Leicester. Every other home game will see a crowd of sub 6,500 in my opinion.

If we only get players on loan till the end of the season then we will still be in the same predicament come June when we will need to sign at least 4 players to have a healthy squad (assuming Clarke goe's as his contract is up).

It's much easier to sign players in the summer though as players contracts expire.

Darren Powell. Darryl Powell left Derby some 7 years ago. ;) Although we do need experience? ;)

As for Darren Powell, I suggested him on here last week. A big, strong, dominant centre back who has hundreds of games under his belt and is on a free.

sounds like the perfect player we should be looking at,perfect til the end of season

Daryl Powell has been released from Derby, would his experiance not come in handy for the remainder of the season, on a short term basis. Can add some competition and know how to the back four or even the midfield.

And probably earning a few more shillings than we could afford to pay him?.

Anyone would be welcome at the moment, the team looks so defleated right now..... we need to get team morale up and theres nothing like a new player to do that.

I've been speaking to Carol Vorderman tonight and she reckons we should try and consolidate all our loans into one permanent deal.

That's strange because she told me we should take one loanee from the top division and five from anywhere else.
