Aaaaaargh!
I am not advocating we do that. I just want to gauge the general feeling about if people think they are behind the scenes problems going on just now that the majority don't know about.

As I said last week (and also got shot down for I might add), a couple of years in and around the L1 playoffs will see us able to consolidate and then mount a sustainable challenge on Championship survival once in the new stadium. Tilson and Brush are still key to this in my opinion!

Tilly works by taking a bunch of (not the most talented or highly paid) players, developing a real team spirit and getting them to work for each other, and the result has been that SUFC has somewhat overachieved. For this to succeed in the long term, everyone has to buy into this from the Chairman all the way down to the terraces. Sadly, for as long as I have following Southend, there has been a disaffected minority who insist on loud vocal protests the minute they perceive that things aren't as they should be. This has gone to extremes this season with the abuse handed out to Harrold and the booing of the team.

Tilly isn't one of these hard-nosed managers to whom this sort of thing is like water off a duck's back, it affects, upsets, and dissillusions him. If Tilly loses his desire and passion, then the team will slump - and I think we are seeing the cracks clearly, with the dropping of Maher and his loss of form, the arguing with Adam, the "oh sod you then" hand gesture at Oxford, etc. I know there are some on here who will argue that it is time for a new manager anyway. All I will say to that is they are living in a dream world. We are a small club with limited resources. I don't think that there is another manager out there, who we could afford or who would consider coming to us, who could do what Steve Tilson and Paul Brush have done or even come close. And if those fans continue to entertain unreasonable expectations and berate the team for not living up to them, then I think we can expect to see the end of this particular golden era of Southend football very soon.

I just hope that Blue Voice can be used to change this by POSITIVE support of ALL the team REGARDLESS.
