Thorpe Bay Crash

No good point, although to be fair I was only quoting what I'd seen on the TV. I figure that local TV news journalists might get a reasonable handle on what's actually happened. The guy even went as far as saying one of the groups had just eaten in Nando's, not the kind of info a journo would just go & make up!

No comment on the Southend Hospital spokesman though.....

He even managed a Tilly style "Like I say".... I'm so proud!

Aside of my cheap jibe - there was also quite a (serious looking) accident along the seafront opposite the Roslyn Hotel/Restaurant. All i could see was a car had gone into the sea-wall fairly near to one set of benches. How it go there i have no idea and whether there was more than one car involved is also something i cant answer but there was alot of flashing lights and police/ambulance/fire engine's about. Best be careful in T.B now as things happen in three's!

Yeah, my mum saw that. The driver was air lifted to hospital but no-one else was hurt

It said on Anglia News the bunch of kids were sitting on the wall of one of their house's after 2 groups of friends had bumped into each other walking back from Thorpe Bay station.

From what i gather from locals/echo, they were causing a bit of hassle down the Broadway by the shops, and the police moved them along. They were all heading down to the seafront as they'd been eating at Nando's (typical T.B types) that evening!

76 y/o male driver, crashed into the sea wall at end of Eastern Esplanade. No other car/people involved. Took 90 minutes to cut him out, then he was airlifted to Romford.

Poor old sod. Bad enough being stuck in your motor for an hour and a half but then being airlifted to Romford........terrible.

My Uncle was the officer on duty and from what i can gather, two groups of 7/8 friends bumped into each other on Tyrone Road, the guy came down the road, clipped a kerb and spiralled out of control hitting them.

I have heard that it was not the driver or the car who injured anyone. When the car smashed into the wall apparently the bricks in the wall just exploded outwards like bulletts and this is what injured people but who knows what actually happenned?

Nah that's not right mate. The car went up the curb and ran down the majority who were injured, but then went into a brick wall. The bricks spread everywhere and hit others who were injured as a result. My girlfriends best mate was there and was hit by the bricks, but are only minor injuries.

Oh, sorry hope she's ok then!

Tragic loss of life at such a young age,no comment on the driver.
thoughts go out to the family and friends and thoughts go out to bens mum and dad and sister.

All very sad...makes me wonder how much cotton wool I'll need to wrap my kids in when they're old enough to go out on their own. My heart goes out to her family.

Thing is Andy is that you cant protect them all the time, you arm them with knowage and hope for the best and just worry when ever they are out.
