That clue has given away the best ratio keeper who was Neil Freeman.

The worst ratio would have been playing during Harry Threadgold's time at the club, so a back up keeper for Harry. I have not got any idea without looking it up, I will have a look now!

Just had a look and blimey if any gets the worst keeper without looking it up they will be doing well. I see he only let 4 goals in during his first 5 games.

Well played. Yeah surprised me. But then at the end of the 58/9 season he let in six on 2 separate occasions, and as we finished 8th, I imagine with a better keeper, we might have done better.

If a team is letting in lots of goals per game, it's unlikely that a better keeper would help. If we'd lost all the matches by a single goal or drawn them, a few well-timed saves could make all the difference.

I cheated and looked him up too, not a name I was familiar with. Maybe a clue; a few close shaves in some of his matches ?

Did Danny Gay actually train with Buffon at Roma?! Can anyone give a bit more info? Never knew about this!

No, it was Parma. He went out with Robert Green ... and look what happened to him ! Buffon was there at the time before joining Juventus.

oops ..... I've just realised I might have worded that better, especially bearing in mind his name !

Sorry only just caught up with this thread-would have got Brian Ronson quite quickly-he wasn't that bad actually-more that everyone was scoring a lot more goals in those days. What's more his barnet would have got him into the ginger-haired line-up.

Napster, is my stab at Brian Ronson correct? It came to me out of a clear blue sky. If it is then it was done without any research. Possibly helped by your clue about his former club. Anyway great quiz and weekly feature. Thanks for your time in compiling it.
