Things we miss

Things i miss are . Obviously the north bank and standing, but i quite liked when i sat in the south upper that they used to have a small burger bar up there which is still there but doesnt get used. I used to love singing to away fans in the south stand your getting wet your getting wet were not.

I miss the atmosphere when it was standing and hearing the noise the North bank could make - don't miss the idiots who were only there to cause trouble.

I miss the red refreshment trays - always had a packet of polos and a Mars Bar.

I miss MUPPET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I miss singing Old McDonald from the North Bank

I miss Roy McDonough

I miss the stinking old toilets in the West

I miss the Go Perrys SUFC stickers and cheap Fords driving around the perimeter at HT.

I miss the 3 wheelers stuck in the East, North corner

I miss walking from one half of the West to the other at the HT whistle

That'll do for starters

Or how about the two sammy the shrimps before the current one. One was a kind of illuminous pink and the one before was just the worst outfit ever and had a crappy lion as a companion. What happened to those suits i wonder?

Yep used to always walk from one end of the west to the other. Do you remember the north.west terrace were songs were started by hammering the fences at the front

Save as you spend at Roots Hall Market

Cars driving round the pitch at half time and kids throwing coins at them from the north bank.

Bonfires on the NB

Brilliant!

Also the crop of Tea Bar girls at the back of the West in about 95/96. They made me feel warm inside without the need of a Bovril.

A pre-season friendly against attractive opposition.

The girls at the back of the west were nice. I used to get chatted up by this blonde one at around 98 , but i was always with my missus. I finally split up and the girl leaves . Now thats a proper B@astard

The half-time brass band

YEEEEEEEEEELLLOWS

Peter Taylor mangling the English language in his programme notes

Promises of the 'new stadium for the 21st century' that was going to be built on Sutton Road

The North Bank

The uncovered toilets on the North Bank

Being a slightly odd child and electing to stand in the North West corner all by myself

Having a kip during Friday night matches

Going to games with the old man

Getting in for half price until I was at least 20

(I've only just remembered that)

Watching SUFC without Beaver or Leeboy talking sh!t in my ears

I too miss going to matches with your old man (and I am sure canveyshrimper will say the same)

in addition to all the northbank and refreshment tray posts

"programme an 'andbook"

Bungle

Turning up seconds befor kick off and being able to get to your "space" without disturbing others

"Mr Greasy" who stood in front of us on the north bank

Cushion throwing from the east stand seats

Standing in the west bank with the occasional surge.

The west bank tea girls circa 90-91 - They used to get so much stick from the north bank when they used to carry the takings round to the east stand. It took my mate about 6 home games to pluck up the courage to ask one of them out - then she said no anyway!! Don't think he ever recovered.

The huge old South Bank.

Vic Jobson's guess the attendance.

The 'Jockey Wilson' lookalike steward.

Didn't miss being spat at by our own North Bank when I was a 8 yr old ball boy.

Roy McDonough's banter with the crowd.

Too many to mention.

For some reason, I miss us being rubbish week in week out. Perhaps it's cos it made any win against anyone above about tenth seem pretty large.

I also miss getting there at 2:59 and still being able to choose where I would sit.

Oh, and having checked someone else's response, I too miss having a mascot where people actually have no idea what the hell it is!

Wasn't that Colin Murphy
Might well have been him as well. I was looking at some old programmes when at my Mum's the other day and some of Taylor's stuff when he was in charge of the Centre of Excellence beggared belief.

Cant believe no one has mentioned the grey cushions you could hire for 50p in the Eaststand and transfer from the benches (now East Black) to East Green area

The old club shop on the corner of Vic Ave and Priory Park (ok not Roots Hall per se) but it was like the shop in Bagpuss, couple of crappy mugs, key rings and old programs

The smell of cigar smoke wafting through the ground from old boys in Motty sheepskin coats - not seen a sheepskin coat in ages

Singing sweet Molly Molane in the north bank and one man went to mow in the North bank

Bacon Rolls

Chips

The Shrimpers Bar before it was turned into a Sauna

£4.50 to get in the North bank.

Watching the away fans getting soaked in the southstand knowing they couldnt see much anyway.
