Things I Hate About Football

'Fans' who only turn up to their team's big games.

Manager who can't take it when their team plays badly and complain instead about the referee or the opposition.

Players who dive and constantly moan about decisions.

Whistle-happy refereees.

Players 'shielding the ball' is NOT obstruction, blatant or otherwise, while the ball is in playing distance. There is no obligation in The Laws to play it.

I hate the fact that keepers get too much protection from referees. Not only do they have the advantage of hands, they have the ref on side that if anyone goes up for a header and TOUCHES a keeper, its a foul in favour of the defending side.

All seater stadiums, appreciate why but still think there could have been a better way.

The pricing out of the game of decent, working class football supporters to be replaced by hangers on and celebrities.

The emphasis placed on sponsorship and clubs who are willing to sell their soul to companies for a few quid.

The glamour and attention handed out to a few select Premiership clubs, and kids shunning live football to 'support' these teams from afar.

And of course, west ham fans.

It is obstruction because I'm sure if I remember that it is 'intent to play the ball' and has nothing to do with distance from the ball. Leon Cort did it ALOT if I recall. They have no intent in playing the ball and hold back their opponent stopping them from making any legal challenge for the ball.

Agreed. Also, inconsistency in referees is extremely frustrating.

I really hate Stuart Hall - Pompus tw*tt of the radio - Always rattles on like he is writing a poem - talks for 10 mins about a load of old crap and leaves me still wodering the score in the game - KNOB.

Also hate when ball goes off for goal kick of left of goal and keeper takes it from right of goal and visa versa.

Also hate the way at Roots Hall the home fans always get chucked out but never the away yet when were away from home its always that is watched by the police and stewards and not the home fans.

DtS

1) ITVs football coverage (Clive Tyldsley or whatever his name is, as he talks out of his arse), Alan Green on radio five and his blatant bias towards manchester united, and all phone-in shows (be it david mellor or alan green presenting them, or that one on sky sports with rob mcaffrey)

2) Howard Wilkinson and how he ever got to lead the endland team out at wembley (and the way he treated peter taylor when he was in charge of the u-21s last time around)

3) Chairman of other clubs whose names are well known (good chairman should be like good referees - out of the headlines)

4) Moving the traditional time of the FA cup draw to suit television (and of course the increasing problem of games that dont kick off at 3pm on a saturday, for whatever reason.)

5) Players that always dive (should read cheat), going down like theyve been shot in the head, and then getting up and dusting themselves down AFTER the opponant has been booked.

6) International friendlies - there are enough matches already, we dont need them, its just to make more money for the sponsors of the national side.

7) Soul-less modern football staduim (hopefully the new wembley will break the mould) that loose the atmosphere of what they replaced.

8) Neil Warnock

9) Players who wear boots that arent black. (the boots, not the players!)

10) Clubs that replace their manager every season regardless of what they have achieved under the circumstances.

1. David Pleat who can't tell the difference between Viera and Vieri.

2. Managers who say they didn't see the incident, considering their job is to watch what their team are doing and making them win. I don't know what Arsene Wenger does while his team are playing but he certainly doesn't watch them.

I agree with this, but it actually goes a step further, doesn't it? I'd call it selective vision, where the manager (Wenger is a classic example) doesn't see the offence his player makes, as if he were as blind as a bat... but the same pair of eyes can improve to bionic proportions if one of his players is on the receiving end of an offence.

Oh... and I hate it when they show a shot of Fergy at any time... but especially when that red cheeked, gum chewing horse breeder is looking and pointing frantically at his watch to pressure the ref to blow for full-time.

Oddly enough, he never does it when his side is 1-0 down in the 94th minute and has the opposition under the kosh.

Alan Hansen.

Rivaldo at the World Cup

Alex Ferguson

And to the rivals and banter points, I've got a Chletenham mate at school, and we take the p!ss all the time, but we don't take it seriously, which reminds me...

FANS WHO TAKE EVERY LITTLE THING SERIOUSLY!!

I cant say ive heard him commentate on
a Man Utd v Liverpool game, but whenever he is on a Man Utd match, he is always very bias towards them.
