Theres a rat in me garage, what im gonna do!!!

Winkle

Manager
Being in denial the pass week or so, me and the missus have been hearing the odd russle in the loft a bit of scratching as well, but put it down to birds, but waking up this morning has confirmed my worse fears A RAT!!!
Now, being a bit of a custard (of the cowardy cowardy type) when it comes all things rodenty, I went to feed my Gay dog (monty) this morning, only to find a hole as big as "krackatoa" knawed in the middle of the plastic box ,we keep the poor fellas food in, the teeth marks were humungus! I then did something I havent done for a long time, A BIG GIRLY SCREAM. This might seem a bit of an overiaction but I cant stand rodents, and the thought of one scurrying around my abode feels me with such horror ,to the extent of waking my wife up to check if the coast was clear.
Now, shall I go for the all out attack, rentokill, the enviromental health, traps, poison, cats, Nuclear bomb, baseball bat,Dyno rod???? Or shall I go for one of these friendly eco traps that doesnt maime or harm the pesky critter.

Advice needed please!

Poison the fecker.
We think we have mice in our garage too, although since we stopped leaving the baby's snacks in the bottom of her pram there's been less mouse sh*te dotted around in the garage so hopefully nature's taken it's course!

Wuss :p

Should see some of the ones I see on the railway tracks - size of small dogs I tells ya.

Poison I reckon would be best, though make sure it's gay-dog friendly.

Try and go for the friendly trap approach as much as you hate them I am sure you would not like to see an innocent animal being killed. Give that a week if that doesn't work then just call in pest control and let them sort it out.

Winkles home during the night!

Thanks for that info, the size of dogs ehhhh!!! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Dont think I can go for the poison approach simply because if it looks like food, monty scoffs it!

DO NOT USE POISON. RAT POISON CAUSES SEVERE INTERNAL BLEEDING, BUT WILL ALSO DO THE SAME TO YOUR DOG.

The best thing to use is this:-

Eradirat

It is basically a food that kills them, but is harmless to domestic animals.

blimey... that sh*t mummifies them!

My parents lived onto the back of a field and we once had a mouse infestation, we used to open a wardrobe and two would run out etc.

Tried using normal mousetraps, (caught 7 in one evening!) but that didnt work and the only way we got rid of them in the end was to put poison down.

The poison came in little boxes the mouse went into and you put it in places your other pets cant get to, ie behind and under furniture etc

You should see them in tunnels. We often get cable faults that are down to rodents chewing through cables - BIG insulated 32mm CSA screened cables...imagine the size of their teeth!

Like yourself winkle i have a fear of rodents, not good when i moved too the countryside a while back and had to wage all out war on the feckers.
The advice about poison is right as i killed a niegbours cat last year,so now im a lot more carefull.
Did the poison yesterday and i put it out like thus, mix it with choccy spread and then wrap little parcels in clingfilm so you have little balls of yummy death food, then put it in places the monsters are likely to run.
They cant see too well and like tight dark areas and tend to stick close to walls,to protect your gay but no doubt cute dog go get a length of waste pipe, cut it up in small lengths and put poison inside.
So in short do use poison but be carefull.
Good luck

Or a Lynx on PCP :D

I would try and go down the most humane route possible. As Ricey said the animal is innocent and just doing what comes naturally so that is no reason to give it a painful and horrendous death. If you can catch it and release it in the woods or something, where is the harm in that?
