The West Ham view on FF!

When i get on the train at Chalkwell it is already packed with hammers fans, chelsea fans and charlton fans.
England haven't done that well recently. France, Belgium and Holland are but a ferry away. Oh I forgot, nationality matters, birthplace/residence within country doesn't.....

After reading that I am glad they got knocked out by Watford! I hope they get relagated now really struggle and their gates drop! ****S!

most of the stuff on there seemed pretty reasonable. Lets face it, when you are 6 and the family all supports one team you probably follow. And as for locality, at that age as far as you know West Ham might be in the next street. Kids support the bigger teams cos they see more of them on TV and they get greater exposure. It would suit us better for the hammers to stay in the top league which goes hand in hand with high prices so when "Dad" wants to take his young uns to footy, Southend then becomes a viable, affordable, local option. The kids then become Southend fans, thats the way we will increase our numbers.

Sounds like a hint of jealousy to me. And they should be too, they will quite rightly worried when our new ground goes up, esp since they are doing sh*t at the moment. Wouldnt surprise me at all if we had some Wet Sham converts and I would welcome them with open arms if they want to bring their kids and familys and shun their premiership team for their local one.
You cannot blame some people for wanting to support the likes of Wet Sham Chelski etc as the facilities at Roots Hall are not great for families hopefuly we will see lots of converts for life when FF goes up ;)

Ahh yes, but not only are potential Wet Sham converts getting improved facilities at FF, but the opportunity to sit next to people who aren't actually claiming benefits for a living! :D

Saw a couple of west ham fans at Barking after the game on saturday. They both had had far to much beer in the pub next door....this was obvious as I watched one stumble from half way up the stairs leading to the platform. He kept his balance for the first 10, then jumped as he knew he was going to fall and proceeded to land on his head on the platform. He then sat up covered in beer and blood to see 6 shrimpers laughing along with the rest of the platform.

That what they get for supporting a team with a injurys prone right back who was on 60k a week & wasting £40 to get a ticket to see them lose to Watford at home.

South Essex was always traditional West Ham "territory" in terms of support simply due to the East End overflow.

It is noticeable, however, that Southend shirts and colours are now commonplace on the High Street and the claret & blue colours are becoming increasingly rare.

Not only that but the fallacy of "there's more West Ham supporters than Southend United in Southend" has been shown up for what it is. Even allowing for away support at the Hall and home fans living out of the Southend, Rochford and Castle Point areas, there are a good 6,000 or so that have season or matchday tickets at the Hall. In no way, shape or form do West Ham get anywhere near 6,000 from in and around Southend on matchdays.

Coupled with the Hammers struggles it appears that some dummy spitting has pervaded the erstwhile borough of Newham. Long may these hissy fits continue. :hilarious:

My son (11) has a couple of times told me his school mates take the micky out of him supporting Southend, The funny thing is that stopped after we beat Manchester United. He also asks them when the last time they saw there premiership team Play, you guest it never. he has been a blues ST holder for 3 years and going to the hall since he was 6 and he is proud of his Team.

You can keep your overpriced Premiershi te,
