The Reason Managers Leave

TMWLT

Banned
whether we like or not, managers dont stay at clubs forever, they move on
usually for 1 of 3 reasons

1.they die!! which according to bluebell bob or whatever her name is so am i!!

2. they get offered a better job

3. they get the sack

thats a fact of life, now for those 10percent on here that were following the
shrimpers when webb was in charge, we all thought he would last forever
but hey thats 16 years ago now.

so the question is sit back and relax, tillys going at some point, probably sooner ratther than later.

the big question however is this, is ron martin a football man or fan, I think we all know he is not, so does he try and protect his payday the stadium
by dacking tilly . or does he take the romantic notion thats its all alright and doesnt matter thatwe are heading for l2!!!!

i think it matters to him how paying customer go down to fossil farm,
and clearly staying up with an average of about 7,000 is more important than going back to the days of 3,500

the other dilemma is of course that he wants to sell the club does he cash his chips in now, or wait

You will not find on any threads that I think Tilly should go, I love him and his position at this club is fundemental in the future succsess. However I will tell you know don't for a minute think think that we are to good to go down and all that bollox, I remember last time we got relegated from the 1st division the hang over lasted alot more than the first 10 games......

With the squad we have there is no way we are heading to League Two. We've played some excellent football this season, unfortunately defensive sloppiness has cost us at times. The defence looked much stronger last night, both Dagenham's goals were freakish - the first an amazing overhead kick and the second a bizarre passage of play were the ball ricocheted into the corner causing confusion. Tilly looks like he's made some more excellent signings this summer - Bailey, Black, Richards and McDonald have all played well and look better with each game. Some of the football we played last night was superb, it will be too good for many teams in this division...

Agree that on paper we look too good to go down, however results suggest differently. We were better than borient and lost, better than Leeds and lost, Cheltenham took us to extra time, better than Brighton and lost and then last night were better than Dagenham and yet their in Round 2. You can never say your too good to go down. Pretty football in the lower divisions is sometimes not the answer for success.

Out of all 92 clubs Tilly is the 11th longest serving Manager......That is something to be proud off

but not good enough to beat Dagenham a **** poor brighton side, and equally **** poor Orient side

Dagenham were lucky to draw against us last night, we were the better side. That performance over the next 42 league games will be good enough for at least a mid table finish.

Brighton weren't anything special, we played some decent football but our midgit defence cost us. This problem looks to be rectified, as long as Barrett and Clarke aren't paired together we'll be ok.

The Orient game was turned by a terrible referee and Thornton's cheating, I wouldn't fault our players in that one. Also, Orient don't appear to be a poor side, they are top yet I feel our team/squad is just as good as theirs

I agree pretty football isn't always the way forward, however last night the defenders hoofed/headed it forward and the midfield played fast, quick flowing football which is a much better combination.

most managers leave when they get a better offer and Steve Tilson has acheived a lot at this club -

and is acheiving a lot with this current squad

has worked with ENGLAND at U 21 level -

and will go a long way - hopefully with SUFC -

and wll one day get a better offer ..... and teh we really will have problems

Not good enough to beat at the moment no, surely you can admit that we were clearly the better side both games despite the result.

With that in mind its only a matter of time before we find some form and move up the table.

We arent going to win this league but Ill wager we wont find ourselves in the bottom 6 come the end of the season either.

PS What has Ron Martin done that TMWLT seems to hate him for ? Record crowds, hopefully a new stadium, over a million in transfer funds in the last 12 months what on earth does Ron Martin have to do to convince some people !?!?

Is that true? If so bloody amazing.

I also believe that we will not go down this season , but letting in an average of 2 goals a game is defo relegation material , unless we find 2 30 a season forwards to bail us out :p

Thats easy then :)

We wont keep shipping goals like we have, Im sure we will get it together over the coming month.

well you believe in what you believe in and ill believe in what I believe in. we can play the best football in the world but if we have a shambolic and un organised defence and a forward line that cant hit a cows **** with a banjo we will go down

As long as we are playing well the points will start coming.

We have issues but they can be sorted out and with a bit of conifdence this team will do ok.

It sounds like you couldn't have been saying the same thing last year just ending with 'and we'll stay up'.
