The Power Of The Zone - Tilly Defends Flavs

I like this part:

The Blues boss is also seeking to bolster his squad ahead of the closure of the transfer next Friday.

"If the right one comes along then we shall make a move," he added.

Well, i'm pleased he's come out and given us his reasons, takes a brave man. Also like the comments about there is competition for that place, so i'm thinking he'll be watching Collis today, and the comment 'if the right one comes along' suggests he has his targets and has some inquiries on the table.

I do feel this was the wrong decision by Tilson, but it takes a strong man to come out and answer his critics. If you're going to instate a "competition for places" type team roster, you need to make sure those people that prove themselves on the odd chance they get receive some reward for it afterwards.

But I wasn't at the game so am purely judging from feedback on here...

although not a very good reason in IMO

Seconded. Collis > Flavs.

:D

And we're clearly not going to be signing anyone before the window closes, are we? Perhaps they suspect that unless they're one of Tilly's Faves, they'll end up languishing on the bench...

They are looking at an ex Watford winger in this afternoons reserves game....hmmm we need another winger then

I assume these reserve games are not behind close doors as I may pop along? Not been to a reserve game before so dont know. I am sure I read somewhere that these things are free to seaso holders, or did I just dream the free part

It seems we have a reasonable team playing....I even recognise most of the names! ;)

usually 1 or 2 quid... east stand only obviously!

at least he came out an explained his (weak) reason... flavs has played well for the last few seasons.. collis hasn't played for the last few reasons because he hasn't had a chance.. plays well when he gets one and then gets dropped again

oh well

Good stuff, cheers guys.

Ofcourse Tilly might have also based his choice of Flavs on the fact that while Collis had a good solid game, he didnt actually have a huge amount to do against Cheltenham. What he did was very good but perhaps there wasnt enough for Tilly.

I am not saying thats right to leave him out cos I would have chosen Collis over Flavs atleast for the Leeds game. Just suggesting it might have been something Tilly considered when making his choice. I agree though, Collis didnt do too much wrong (cant recall anything really) so must be asking himself "what more could I have done in that game". I hope that it doesnt dent his confidence because he must be very close to starting a first team game.

i've said this before and said this again but you definitely can't hold it against Collis that he didn't have much to do... some would argue having him in goal boosted the trust and confidence in our back four and they upped their game because of him

I agree, he should have played against Leeds and looked good against Chelts when he came for crosses. Got a cheer for the first one as I recall and not a step ladder insight.

If he had been in the game more, he might have stood out and been able to challenge Flavs who has obviously done well for a long time. Thats not the fault of Collis obviously but to stand out and be selected a few more saves like the pen would have done him no harm at all. He can only deal with whatever is thrown or kicked at him but too oust Flavs he needed a slightly more active part in the game. See its all Cheltenhams fault!

Hopefully he will get his chance sooner rather than later.

Besides Flavs was too ill for the Cheltenham game but made a recovery for Leeds. Maybe he should have been rested anyway.

Hopefully he will do well this afternoon....wonder how Paynter will play? Like a painter or like a person fighting for his place in the first team
