The positive thread

The nucleus of the team from last season is intact, we only lost two regular 1st teamers, providing we get loans in to give us cover their is no reason why we cannot be a force to be reckoned with. Also Now having a keeper that actually shouts and arranges his defence and can reach the crossbar will definately help, and not stay on his god damn line all the time like someone i know.

There, now let's hear the doom and gloom merchants have a pop at me for that!!!!

In losing Flavs, Gower and Maher, we've got to have got rid of some our highest wage earners, that has to be a plus, right?

He asked for positive, not fiction.

And he got positive!

Just because you, presumably, disagree with his assertion that Scannel will be awesome and prove to be better than Gower, it doesn't make it fiction.

And if you do disagree, debate the point properly by giving arguments and substantiation to your point.

At the moment I don't know if you think Scannel is not going to be awesome, and if so why; or whether you believe he won't prove to be better than Gower, this season, next, ever.

For what it's worth, I've seen a lot in Scannel already to make me believe he could be a very good player; he has a lot of natural upper body strength which will enable him to hold defenders off; and a decent bit of pace to then leave them behind. He played the Fulham defender (Kanchesky?) off of the park and got several decent crosses in before being subbed. Whether he'll turn out to be better than Gower is another matter; it'll depend on whether he can develop the vision that MG had. Of course he may never be a Gower type of player and we might be better off comparing him to JCR, or Andy Ansah.

Quite agree, plus it now gives an ideal opportunity for the youngsters to show what they can do and see if our centre of excellence really is working

I have moved seats to get a better view, thats good enough for me!

Good point, I've moved our seats to get away from the unaccompanied brats that used to spill drinks on us, kick our chairs continuously and just mess about the WHOLE game - that has to be a major positive from our point of view!

Scannell

Scannell will be awesome this season and having met him he is a really decent guy and deserves to do well. He said to me at a football club presentation at the end of last season he planned to work really hard to get fit during the summer and
Tommy Black leaving would give him more opportunites.
I still think Gower gave us something when on his game but Damian will, if he maintains his pre season form and consistency, frighten the hell out of defences and if he attacks the penalty area, penalties will come thick and fast!
Still think the left back situation needs sorting and I worry where the goals will come fron expecially if Barney is injured and Baily is not in the right frame of mind. Macca will be sorely missed early on and we need to get off to a good start
in readiness for the inevitable slump in form.
Would still like a word from Ron........
