The passing of a legend - Christopher Hitchens

In your case sir it is very hard to tell . i should also say to be read in mock victorian accent with a hat on eating a rump of badger and a side of tinsle tit :-). There now to throw anothet urchin in the cogs of a bell tower. (can you guess what i was watching ;-))

Too easy. You've namechecked an item of fashion and some animals in some sort of whimsical but unfunny manner - you've been watching Noel Fielding on Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

It may be inconvenient for you but we still live in a free country and I have no intention of keeping my opinions to myself no matter how offensive or hallucogenic you or others may find them.
As I've said on here before I used to be the type of angry, bitter atheist you appear to be from your post. I met someone who challenged my views and I used to argue with them until I was blue in the face, using many of the arguments people now use against me on here. It did open some of the closed doors in my mind and set me thinking and that eventually led to me becoming a Christian. I will post my views on here as long as I have the freedom to in the hope that they may set someone else on the same journey I took.
The message of Christianity is an offensive one in our politically correct culture as it's message is that all of us need to make a choice for or against Christ and there is an eternal consequence of that decision. I personally felt I could no longer reject God out of intellectual pride or because he didn't fit the nice fluffy 'everyone can believe what they want and it will be alright or your being offensive' mentality.
I will take you at your word about wanting proofs and there are a few books that are generally regarded as helpful:
'Who moved the stone' by Frank Morrison
'The case for Christ' by Lee Strobel
'Evidence that demands a verdict' by Josh McDowell
All of those books were written by atheists who set out to write books that would disprove all that Christian nonsense once and for all but all of them ended up as Christians as a result of their research in writing those books.

I mentioned yesterday that I think the best evidence of Christianity is lives changed for the better and a book that is worth reading is 'One Step Beyond' by Gram Seed. He is a former petty criminal, football hooligan, alcoholic and drug addict from Middlesbrough who ended up in a coma but his life has been transformed by becoming a Christian.

All the best and Happy CHRISTmas

Personal faith is fine , but as already stated the attitude of assumed superiority is only of benefit and re-enforcement for your world view . If there really is nothing else or a different type of celestial bureaucracy , you seem to have more to loose then others . And its not PC thought that makes it offensive , its the idea that to paraphrase the Hitch there is a celestial North Korea run by a desperate needy father figure . If there is no great war against good and evil what is there for you ?

And a merry XMASS to you TS ,keep your god to yourself to make you feel safe and sound and good in the knoweledge that you are off to better place, she doesnt need me as im rotten to the core.
How fecked is your sexist faith when you find out it was a woman all along,id suckle on that tit.

That's not very christian or even charitable.Live and let live.I'm an unapolgetic, lifelong atheist(but believe it or not)I respect other peoples beliefs.

I am not a christain but i do chairty work and for the record this is a football forum and the nasty word that were writen by me are just my views on the subject being discussed at the time and i can not respect someting that i have no respect for as that would just be false and a bit of a lie.
As posters on this site i like pickled and teeside but dislike thier religus views as im sure they do mine.

Also Barna if your not a Christian you really don't have to live by their morals or standards . Being a "good" or "moral" individual has little to do with one set of ideas.

Ah,but I was brought up in the C of E allegedly. At least that what some prat of a Headmaster(who didn't know me from Adam) helpfully told me when he returned the application form, which I'd sent him for a teaching post at his school.I'd put a line through the section on religon (or wrote none-I can't remember which, it was some time ago).:cricko:

Btw,I agree with what you say,Osy.:winking:

Tony,
Point taken but FYI there's a world of difference,at least IMO, between being *charitable and doing charity work(or as I prefer to call it voluntary work). Also, isn't this the pub section of SZ?
As it happens,I'm not doing any voluntary work these days but I've done a bit in my time, including working for 6 months as a full-time Residential worker at a Cyrenians Night Shelter (which was one of the most educational experiences of my life)and teaching with the Adult Literacy service and Parosi(teaching ESL to Asian teenagers) programme while I was working for Middlesex Probation Service in Harrow.
I'd also agree with you about liking PS and TS's posts but I don't dislike their religous views,as such, just disagree with them.

*char·i·ta·ble (chr-t-bl)
adj.
1. Generous in giving money or other help to the needy.
2. Mild or tolerant in judging others; lenient.
3. Of, for, or concerned with charity:

Dear pip,i never said hinted or pretended to be a charitable person,im not im a narrow minded bigot who has had his favourite word taken away from him,boo hoo bad mods.

Intresting but i would advise the writer and others to look into solar phalc and dying ressurecting gods before Jesus . mithrasium was the largest of these types at the time of Constantine . Also if a ritual works you keep it ;-)
