Understand the Martin hate as we are under yet another embargo, but surely Tom and Patrick should also come in for some flack too. He is the CEO, and knows the finances (as well as Patrick Van De Waag) Why even consider getting Stan / John Still which costs more cash when they know an embargo might be upcoming because they haven't got the cash to pay HMRC.

These HMRC bills aren't surprises. Its not like you open the post one day and bang, HMRC have sent you a bill for £250k (number made up to illusltrate a point)

Lovely news to wake up to. Not surprised in the slightest. I fear the only way the pain is ever going to end is if we are no longer a club. So fed up with this shambles all because of one man. Ron you are a **** f*** off.

At least I have the cricket to enjoyy ahhhhh Fuuuuu noooooo
Cricket is more depressing than Southend United, yawnnn!

Easy to be anything you want on the internet mate , people can want to hear good news so much, that they will take it from any direction regardless of the credibility or source. If shrimpet Steve says something it’s laughed at and ridiculed,if boywonder2 says something we hang off every word.. for all we know it could be the same spotty teen sitting in his or her bedroom .

Wake up smell the coffee, it’s Southend United ! If something doesn’t feel right it generally means it isn’t!
Boywonder2 has provided accurate information in the past, Shrimpet Steve hasn't. Boywonder2's silence in the past week (when they are usually quick to dispell financial rumours) is what got a lot of people worried, we've probably been in trouble for longer than a week but Ron has likely been stringing along club employees for a while as well to stop our troubles leaking.

Ironic that SVC himself started the Recruitment thread and nothing happened, apart from Still's arrival. Another mouth to feed when players were the priority. Surely the embargo must been seen coming. The CEO must have known. Don't the new management team speak to each other?
I do agree. I don’t think Ron is the only one to blame here. Yes, he’s the main person to blame… but we’re not wrong to feel a bit peeved that this has happened under the watch of our glorious CEO, whose job it is to control finances. I also get the frustration pointed at Stan… he came in and offered transparency then has run away the second the **** has hit the fan.

Truth gets out in the end though, I had a gut feeling even a few weeks back that all wasn’t right.

I didn’t say much though because to claim embargo without being ITK would have been a bit bold.

But the silence is deafening as they say

Exactly my point a few posts back, obviously Martin is primarily to blame but it really makes you wonder about the role of the CEO in prioritising admin positions like Still and SVC when new players were needed. I even wonder now if the Holmes transfer fell through because an embargo was in place back then, not that I was an advocate for it.

Whatever you think of our CEO it does not make a blind bit of difference. RM controls the money. He might let Tom run the club but only as he sees fit. If RM wants to pay something else before wages or the taxman it happens and there is sod all Tom can do about it.

What can Stan say, he has been blindsided like the rest of the staff.

Is it just me who thinks the leagues powers in these situations are insufficient? Take our case as a prime example. An owner who, to all intents and purposes, has full control. No one can buy the club without the owner selling. No chance of a hostile takeover for example. Said owner is then proven to be unfit. In our case several failures to keep HMRC happy.

For me a transfer embargo feels like an insufficient measure. I feel like the league or a regulatory body should have the power to force an owner to sell (after sufficient chances and warnings) and not only that but sell a complete club including all existing infrastructure. The transfer embargo does not punish an owner in any way, just the club. This also applies to point deductions.

Just my thoughts anyway.

Ron needs to sort a payment schedule with HMRC whether that’s as the club or personally I’m not sure. Any current loanees can be extended further whilst under embargo (I believe)
Need more than the two loaners, Atkinson, White, Ferguson, Demi, Dunne, Agogo, there’s six names you do not want in the National League …….Vets League yes!

How’s that in the know account going that said all players defiantly paid haha
Think GBJ got it right. If you meant me, I don't think I said everyone was paid! I know they werent. Some of the younger ones
If you didn't mean me.... No worries

The Shrimpers Trust was disappointed to learn last night, via the report in the Southend Echo, that Southend United FC have been placed under an embargo by the National League.

We are actively seeking clarification from the club concerning this matter and will be looking to bring all supporters groups together in the coming days to discuss the latest developments.

We will issue a full statement in due course.

Embargo’s serve to damage and stifle the playing side of the club also impacting fans.

As for punishing the owners, I think the amount of embargoes we have had show that they don’t appear to learn.

Would love to see a strike system in which incompetent owners will have to sell after a no. of violations. Legally very hard to enforce though and probably would need government bills to pass

I dont think thats the case. More likely to me that tom makes the budget. Ron says thats fine. Tom proceeds then cheques bounce.

Ron knows what needs to come out of the account. But he doesnt put enough money in. Not fit and proper, he's a cowboy.

Can't imagine Stan sticking around for long with all this going on. I didn't want to believe the rumours I'll admit but its obviously true and its incredibly depressing. Why would the likes of John Still have joined if he knew about this? You can only imagine a lot of people have been lied to. why does Ron do this? Call him what you like but he's not stupid, he must know its all going to come out in the wash eventually. Just be honest in the first place, its not hard. Stop giving us false hope, its a cruel way to treat loyal fans. If this isn't resolved very quickly its hard to see anything other than another relegation and possible oblivion.

Boywonder2 was also very selective with his wording at times, pacified the natives that all player wages paid etc whilst knowing that wasn’t true for all staff. What he knows and shares isn’t exactly done without the clubs knowledge or blessing

Do you not think that it was the CEO’s decision to hire numerous staff members recently? I’m pretty sure he would have known about our precarious situation long before he sanctioned those hires.
