Loads of banter from west to North yesterdayNorth bank to the West stand.. "we've got your burger bar, we've got your burger bar"
Some great banter today. Just beautiful hearing "We're the North Bank of Roots Hall", it's been far too many years.
Atmosphere was suprisingly good, i noticed when we were singing Bim's song at the end of the game in the North bank, it sounded pretty loud out on the pitch from the social media girl's recordings. Now if all the Blue Voice emigrated to the North bank that would be quite a sound.
You could tell the Westanders were jealous, wishing they'd moved today ;)
I don't think we'll see too many families continue in the North bank, the scene was set at the ko with Col U on a String and some of the chants continued that fruity flavour. I do think though that our drummer should be more behind the goal, for a more traditional Southend PAK feel. Then families could take up the seats going around the corner. Getting out of the ground was so much quicker too, we didnt hear Kevin's post match until i pulled up on my drive in Wickford. Bloomin handy for midweek games with work in mind next day.
slightly off topic but please can you enlighten us to the words for the Bim song - been trying to figure them out in the West for weeks but to my oldish ears it’s still just a mumbleAtmosphere was suprisingly good, i noticed when we were singing Bim's song at the end of the game in the North bank, it sounded pretty loud out on the pitch from the social media girl's recordings. It is the roof. For a start it's lower than the West Stand, and also the barrel shaped bit apparently, makes the sound come out louder, as it defects it downwards. It would be unbelievably loud if the Blue Voice singing section moved over. Maybe they should try for one game. I'm sure most of them are too young to have heard the North Bank Roar. How many of you Blue Voice have thought, we should be over there? Spread the word, and try it for one game. If you all don't like it, fair enough. If it's incredibly loud and you love it, then great. You might want to swap over next season. I think most of us other fans would like the noise from any singing section to be louder, as sometimes you're singing, but we can't hear you. I think about half the noise over there in the West Stand disperses up into the sky. For me, I'll be honest, and I can't sit in there as a 6 footer, as it's too cramped. Those steps were made for standing, and are a few inches wrong for seats.I thought North Bank area was loudest, when we scored a goal. I guess it’s the roof in North bank that keep the noise in.
Pleased you managed to dig a tunnel after all @in the know.Grandson and I were in NA block yesterday due to most of the home comp tickets being allocated there instead of the usual east seats.
For what it's worth, we both thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, drum, banter, songs, West v east singing.
The yellow seats were so much more spacious for long legs, the access in and out was so much roomier and wide, the toilets were like the Ritz compared to the east, the burgers looked amazing and there were fans with chips and beers.
The close up view of the North goal action was countered by the distance to the south goal but was worth it.
The car park situation was manic and the parking stewards were on a hiding to nothing. Even Tom was out there trying to help sort it out. Can't imagine many CEOs doing that.
The loss of 20\30 (guesswork) parking spaces including blue badge ones to accommodate 150 away fans and a different area for their team coach seemed bad planning in hindsight. Wondering if maybe it was used as a practice run for bigger games given the amount of stewards utilised or if it was the absolute only way of having both home and away in one stand.
It was a very enjoyable experience overall and id welcome going there again, but I suspect we are not the ideal standmates for the tremendous TBV despite my grandson giving his best for the ones he knew. I need to sit for most of the game and I get it that for the ultimate experience, standing and singing the whole game makes for a better matchday.
Will be interesting to see where my comp takes me at the next home game
yep, we all went in the one car. Was a bit of an issue with the long queue of cars to get in just after 2 as he was supposed to be there dead on and had to undercut a few queuers in the car queue which didn't go down well unless recognised!Pleased you managed to dig a tunnel after all @in the know.
