The new score board

lets just be happy we have a new scoreboard. Cant wait to see it in action tomorrow with team pics and GOAL in huge letters across it. Hope the scaffolding is down by tomorrow though
Scaffolding taken down this morning. I am sure it must be very robust for positioning it there; most go into a corner rather than being a "converted try" target.

Amazing transformation. Although in true Southend tradition, positivity is always coupled with a slight negative. That pitch... It's awful!
Seen worse to be fair, The pitch is something that I assume would have been relayed over the summer had the consortium took over earlier but as we know had to sort the rats debts out (forgive me if it did get relayed) no doubt they will do it next season

Hope he does, to a chant of “**** off Ray Martin there’s life after you!”
Who's Ray Martin? - We know who you mean. I feel if he does turn up he may find the odd (vast number) of thugs nipping out at half time to take a look at his Bentley :Angry Mob:

Pitch was done just after end of last season. Club posted pictures of the work.

Granted, but as we all know, pitches need constant care and before the takeover, there probably wasn't any funds available for this.

Going forward am sure more attention will be given to the pitch.

I do think they need to break in the new scoreboard gently. I recommend:

1) Putting all text in the top quarter only with the rest of the board blank
2) blanking out some of the letters to mimic the old scoreboard bulbs being blown.

Then each home match, expand the working area and turn on a few more pixels each fixture.
I am concern most of us won't be able to read it otherwise.

One of the comments on Facebook has a nice story about the old old scoreboard:

Sad (ish) the old board on the North is no more. During a short run in the SUFC commercial dept in 1997, I swapped an unsold match sponsorship for the UKs remaining supply of the ancient type of light bulbs it used. That board was 2nd hand, used to be an advert board at the top of the High Street. Was controlled by a BBC Model B computer.

She wasn't a looker but that board had charm, and saw some great matches.

Charm, a great word for it. A true case of beauty in the eye of the beholder.

Like many on here i'm sure, I remember it being the header of southend high street growing up. Then part of our club.
