Pretty much. Sent off for kicking a Bristol Rovers player if I remember rightly.

Yes, it was something like that - or was it that he stepped on a player and the ref thought it was deliberate when all the (un)biased Southend fans thought it was completely accidental and then there was the difficulty of whether to question the red card and risk getting a longer ban. Oh (un)happy days.

If the mousse can get fit he would be a hell of a good addition to the club, like someone stated him and leonard in the middle of the park would bebeautiful. So get fit Frank and next seasons team will already start to take shape, with payne and Barnett ahead ot them .mmmmmmmmmmm

When was the last time Moussa played CM? I'm genuinely curious, because even with us he was out wide for most of his appearances. Since then he's played a wide attacking role for Leicester, Cov and Charlton. With his skill and scoring ability it seems his strengths are probably in a more attacking role these days.

Also, I'd like to see Leonard play alongside someone who allows Leonard to attack the box.

He was certainly inconsistent but the talent was obvious.

It's always a shame when we endure the growing pains of a youngster only to see another team benefit - it's why I'm against loaning unless it's with a view to a permanent move or as injury cover (when I'd still want someone who's played games).

As for memories, he did score the winner against Col Ewe, but fully appreciate that scoring against them hardly sets yourself out from the crowd. I think his best goal for us was against Walsall?

All points taken, but as for Jack Payne, he must have been 18 when I first saw him play at Wakering and his talent was very apparent and a very exciting prospect that he has turned out to be.
I appreciate Moose was young and still learning, but he did play quite a few games for us over a couple of seasons? I just recall he held his own, got a couple of goals, but wasn't exceptional (or bad). The col ewe goal was obviously significant, but we could say the same (and some did) about Piggot and the wembley goal.
We've got some great midfielders at the club currently, and I'd be surprised if he was any better, but hope I'm wrong

He's only 26 and if Moussa can get back fit and recapture anything near the form that he showed whilst at Coventry City then he would without a shadow of doubt be better than anything we have in our midfield. The guy has improved significantly since his first stint with us and was being linked with big-money moves to the Premier League and top Championship clubs whilst at Coventry. But that's the big question isn't it, IF he can stay fit....

That said there's no way the likes of Moussa would be anywhere within our reach in terms of playing level or wages if he was always injury-free and playing so you can look at it both ways. I'd love him to prove his worth during this period, if he can then he'd be a great addition to the squad. We need more midfield creativity, it's hampered us all season.

Used to love the cry of Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooose every time he got the ball - Id have him back just for that - and he was a good player!!

When his brother first started watched him play for us he thought we were booing him.

A poor man's Michael Timlin.

Sounds good to me.

Whether you are poor or affluent makes no difference to your ability to appreciate the art of playing football ............ and given that I like to (mistakenly) still think that the game is a traditional working class game past-time .................

Yes, good game. We still harboured thoughts of escaping from relegation ........... and Moussa was to be a key element if that was to be the case .............. but didn't he then get injured or was he sent off in suspect circumstances and our hopes took a dive as well?

Funnily enough, that Walsall game was 6 years ago today.

Look let's be honest- good player with us including in the Championship, since when he's got better. So he's an upgrade in CM or wide. Surprised he's back with us and will not add to the speculation as to why but the future to me has become a little clearer..

As to injuries all pro footballers get injured- don't think he has had anything particularly major so unless someone knows different don't think its a problem.

Yes he was sent off. Poor tackle on the half way line. Typical poor decision making. We were 2 up and Scott Spencer was particularly good that day. We were let down by Moussa and that useless Col U centre back Baldwin. Anthony conceded a very unlucky own goal right at the end. No luck that season.

People talk about non triers that season and Moussa was up there with M'Voto.

I recon he is another croc.. Our club loves them, (Eastwood, Hunt, Harris, Dooogie..) I'd be suprised if he was on the up he would be with us..... More to the injury than meets the eye.... Again.

The issue with all those you mention is not that they were crocs (perhaps Eastwood excluded) but that they are at the end of their careers when injuries can be hard to shake off. Freedman was very unlucky- fit when he arrived, different class on the pitch and then picked up a nasty injury (that wasn't a recurrence) from which he may have tried to come back too soon and never got over..

Moussa is much younger at 26 and unless someone knows otherwise does not have any specific long term issue (of those you highlight probably Freddie did with the knee).
