@Sensei Phil do you think it is close contact with lots of younger folk in your karate which is increasing the risk of covid recirculating?

And I hope the FA and NL have contingency plans for season interruptions to teams, fixtures , leagues and cups, in place, clear and shared with the clubs as there will be squad infections, and subsequent impacts.
Jujitsu lol

I would not think so. The kids don't seem to be getting it and they mostly work with eachother under our instructions. We only meet once a week.
No coincidence since the govt sent people back to the office that its widespread. The underground is packed again, its taken out of London to surrounding counties in families and schools and so on. All because the government want people to spend money on trains and London coffee shops when it's been proven working at home is equally effective. It's not a surprise its rapidly spreading.

Had my 4th jab yesterday - Moderna. Seriously aching arm this morning (expected), blurred vision, unstable legs and headache, (not expected). Did an LFT test just in case, negative. This vaccine doesn't give you a mild dose of Covid, Instead it stimulates the body to produce more anti-bodies to combat the disease if you catch it.

I'm sure it's a lot more advanced than the first doses we had a couple of years ago.

stay hydrated and take Paracetamol regular.
Seems to be a more common side effect from the Modernna rather than the AZ and Pfizer.
Also had lots of people report lethargy too.

Using one of the fittest men in the world as evidence that jabs aren't necessary (when we know Covid usually hits older people and less physically fit people harder) is a pretty poor comparison.

So why does anyone else need the jab?

I think we just need to now accept that COVID is going to be with us for the long term, it will come and go, everyone's going to get it eventually, the vast majority of people will have a mild illness, and thanks to natural immunity and better treatment the NHS can cope, and all the masks and other restrictions make little difference.

Rubber legs, blurred vision and headache have now departed my system. Arm ache still game for a laugh but that will ease by tomorrow I reckon. I did think about moving to Sandbach to avoid all this but decided against in the end.

Sandbach?

Yeah, it seems you have natural immunity if you live there.

I was there in the week, very nice and twee. I was surprised how high property prices were. Considering one of my least favourite cities, Stoke is just down the road

Me and my other half tested positive today. Not great considering we have a five-day-old baby. Thankfully he seems ok.

While the jabs in general have increased the chances of survival, it’s still rife and out of control. We could do with some restrictions returning, reintroducing mandatory use of masks on public transport and in chemists at the very least.

I know it’s fashionable to dismiss covid as yesterday’s news or a bad cold but I’d rather be in a position where I can feel safer, enjoy life and not be stuck in bed with a sore throat, uncontrollable cough, limited mobility and no appetite.

It has been widely reported BUT hospitals are under immense pressure atm.
Covid admissions are stable, but covid related roll ups at A&E are high, and there is unprecedented demand on A&E.

Arrived LHR yesterday morning. Tested positive lateral flow yesterday afternoon. Took PCR test as well (it’s a long story but I’ll need that for the return to HK). Bit snotty and heady but otherwise OK. Killed at least the first week of a two week holiday
What a total bugger that is mate. Hope you enjoy the break as best you can. Don't forget to infect the rest of the family, they will thank you for it long term. :Winking:

@ORM take the positive, for sure you won't be infected or at risk of being so for going back to HK.
And do you suppose the rest of your plane is similar too?

Can't really argue with most of this.

The Gov need to get a grip on things before the Winter comes... I'd actually like to know if we're going to get jabbed again.

It’s not quite as simple as that, this being HK rules. I am due to fly back on 5th August. I either need a negative PCR 48 hours before flight or, if had Covid, official proof of Covid (hence PCR report) then an official antigen test within 24 hours of flight back. A PCR test is more likely to test positive with a recent infection so at least HK has been sensible in adding this option.

When I arrive I then have an antigen and PCR. Linked with the previous statement if I fail the antigen, irrespective of the above I am treated as a new positive and sent to a facility rather than QT hotel. If I pass that but fail the PCR I am classified as a repositive and it then depends on the CT score. Either I go to a government facility or to my quarantine hotel which is ‘only’ for 7 days this time.

As for the flight, nothing surprises me. The existing measures in HK mean that very few people are reporting for fear of being taken to a facility together with close contacts. They are starting to allow home quarantine with bracelet trackers but only if your abode meets certain conditions such as separate room, bathroom etc. Mine does, the vast majority don’t hence non reporting of positive. Masks are 100 per cent everywhere still unless exercising.

Lucky I caught it when I did. The positive proof route is 14-90 days before departure. If I’d caught it mid holiday my trip back would have been delayed, possibly indefinitely, as quarantine hotels are full. Proof of booking is one of the many conditions of being able to get on a flight.

Hey ho. I was supposed to be hosting a 30 wedding anniversary bash today, that’s obviously off.
