The total package required to take Phil to Bolton is way way more than that figure.

In that's the case then please Bolton take him away, 5 straight defeats and one win in ten, many managers would have been sacked following a run like that.

I do worry that we're paying Phil above the odds when we could get an equally competent less 'showbiz' manager for much less.

It doesn't matter if you sell Holding or not, Phil Brown is not going to Bolton for next season. Again, he's made it quite clear to those around him that he has never, and will not break a contract. Your only chance is if Ron Martin sacks him, and that is very unlikely at this moment.

Could be lip service from PB though, let's not forget Barry Fry left after stating more or less the same. I'd hope Phil is more trustworthy but you never know.

I think you're wrong, I think he's on less because he can supplement so easily from media earnings.

So when I looked previously a week or so ago on oddschecker it was 10/1 on Brown leaving. So the lump my mate and I had on when he got a solid inside tip that Brown was leaving and telling those he was going to take with him looked well and truly gone - the same source said then he was saying he didn't want the job anyway.

But now he's back in to 2/1 on Oddschecker and 9/5 on Betfair:

Perhaps he came to an arrangement with Ron that he'd keep it secret until the end of the season. But if he is going, why hasn't he gone by now? What is going on?

And I agree , not that Brown should go, but the mentality regarding why managers shouldn't owe any loyalty to Football Clubs if a run like the above, in a league higher than the season before , be greeted with the sack !

But bear in mind that sacking a manager can be very expensive .......... there is the rest of their contract to consider and then you have to employ a replacement.

I'm not suggesting that Ron thought about sacking Brown but perhaps the club could not afford to do so ......... and if the much vaunted rumours of Bolton wanting Brown are true then perhaps Ron is still hoping that Bolton do offer some sort of compensation package in return for being able to speak to Brown.

Looking at the Bolton forum it seems that there is an issue regarding the finances of the new owners and there seems to be a difference of opinion between Holdsworth and Anderson. I don't think the new consortium have convinced the authorities that the finance is in place. These are probably the reasons why no appointment has been made. Brown's name is still being mentioned as a possible choice and he is still in the running according to the bookies.

I would. The new German owners at Bradford want Uwe Rosler to take over, and his former club Reading(Where he was a legend), Derby and Notts Forest are interested in Phil Parkinson. With clubs like that after him, I can't see him choosing Bolton.

Prepare to be surprised!

Sounds like I was right..........

He grew up in Chorley just down the road from Bolton so maybe he fancies going back to his roots!
