The Cole-man cometh

Pleased to see Cole in the team but just wondered if anyone could throw some light onto the situation that forced him out of WHam? He asserts that he was on the threshold of first team football there and that if he had stayed he would have been playing Championship football and now Premier$hite. Why did he drop five divisions when he says it was not for footballing reasons?

Dyer's still available and would be absolutely perfect IMHO. Shame about Beckett as I feel he could have been the biggest signing this club has made since Marshy but at the end of the day I'd don't want to support a player who (despite his obvious talents) doesn't want to play for Southend United. At least we'll still have £175k in our pocket for someone else, whether that will be Holt/Agogo who knows, they certainly wouldn't be as good as Beckett. On the other hand if we can pick someone like Dyer up on a free thats incredibly good business. I trust Tilson/Brush fully and they'll bring someone in with quality, maybe we should be looking more to the foreign markets now though as most of the decent strikers out there have already been snapped up by other clubs or have already rejected us.

On the flip side we've just signed the "non-league Ryan Giggs" as he has been deservedly dubbed, and I reckon Cole will have the same sort of impact here as McIndoe has had at Doncaster (and that's some impact!

). Talent clearly runs in the family what with cousin Joe at Chelsea - Arsenal and Real Betis' loss is most definitely our gain!
