If we get the 1.5 mill we are holding for, I don't think its unreasonable for 500k of that to be invested back into the team to give us a good L1 squad & hold our own up there.

Not sure Ron will part with more than 200k if im honest though.....

Where do people think the cash is gonna go?

I have it on good authority that anything we make on a deal for Bentley will be used to hire a private investigator to find out what happened to the Eastwood money.

Hopefully towards the running of the club, reducing the amount of money Ron needs to put in each year and then some on the wages of some good Loanies and freebies. I am sure a bit will go back into the Youth team and hopefully push towards getting up to standard for us to go up a category in the academy.

Then await for the "war chest" "bentley money" comments from those that think Southend should now be cash rich and splashing the cash.

Would like to see a lot of it invested back into the academy to help provide the Dan Bentley's of the future.
Bloody hell how many goalkeepers do we need ,rather see some outfield players coming out of the academy, after all they would fetch more in transfer fees .

That's all well and good so long as the Shrimpers can sustain league one status.

I'd hope we put the funds towards running the club for a year or two. Clubs in the lower 2 divisions shouldn't be spending large sums of money on transfers or wages.

The last thing we need is to buy a player for £150k with a corresponding high salary, and then find the rest of the squad have the hump because they're not getting as much.

Far better to pay off some debts, and put ourselves in a healthier position with the bank, the taxman, and suppliers.

100% this+ money for the academy if it is needed . Yes its more difficult if we don't pay large sums for players but that's where Brown gets to show us how good he is.

I have been told it's for The Roslin debts...

Paying the Roslin tabl

Good to see that the Roslin has not been forgotten!! Always a vitally important piece for some.

Running the club for the season requires a chunk of any Bentley money. Simplistically, I would like to see a coat of paint on the East Stand ends.

I would imagine a few supporters would do that for nothing to help out, or for a few free tickets!

You may laugh, but we'll see how many goals are conceded once we implement my new 11-0-0-0 formation

I don't want a "boom and bust" situation (well, a little boom might be nice .........) so I can imagine that only some of the funds will make their way into the team finances. Just enough to help ensure survival in Division 3 say (although I would clearly like to see promotion - just thought I would say that before allegations of "lack of ambition surfaced).

I would like to see a new football ground ......... after much resistance I am now convinced that this is the only way to secure the long term future of the club. So if the majority of the money were to be spent in getting the building started I would be a very happy person. I worry at times that I will not see a new ground in my life time.

Buy a large, metal, rusty dome! Maybe we can leave it in a field somewhere?
