Comfortable from Strauss and Bopara (! well, if it's not one Essex mug letting you down, it's the other ;) ) until tea. 56-1.

He's just too loose outside the off stump for an Test cricket at the moment. He's got the talent, but not the mentality. Would happily see him replaced for the fourth test - good news for Essex too, as the 2nd and 3rd promotion slots are still up for grabs.

Correction: both Essex mugs. 56/2.

Tut tut .. red for that Jonny as we are all England here .. that said i do agree that Ravi isn't doing it at the moment and perhaps needs a spell out the limelight, maybe even for Key who got about 270 the other week i believe

A good day for England thus far a 1st innings lead of 113, and two convicts including the piggy eyed one back in the hutch. And Mr ****ing Cricket nearly bagged a king pair.

Can we do it?

I'm not convinced...

Think it's a lot to ask in a day, given that a bit of rain is predicted too.

Hussey and then Clarke will be pretty damn hard to shift.

I hope we can, but at least we REALLY shouldn't lose it.

I think this will be a draw unless and as already stated England pick up a few before lunch.

With Headingley starting on Thursday I am concerned about over bowling Flintoff in a fruitless cause.

And I think you've hit on the next big issue there. Do we risk Flintoff this week? I'm no doctor and don't know his exact state of fitness but there is a big worry for him regarding these back-to-back Tests. Of course, leave him out and you're looking at Broad batting at seven, Swann at eight and then a pretty long tail...

Broad seems to only be saved by his batting at the moment. He has never really looked threatening in this series but if Flintoff does rest they may be reluctant to make any other unenforced changes. However Id be worried that if Fred tries to struggle through but is not 100% we could have 2 members of our 5 man attack (Fred and Broad) not contributing at Headingly.

If Flintoff was 100%, I would have thought Bresnan would come into contention for Broad on his home ground, or at the risk of lengthening the tail but improving the bowling, Sidebottom.

If Fred does need a rest then surely it will have to be Harmison coming in but an otherwise unchanged team.
