Thanks Kev - but is a new manager needed?

Should Maher go?

The recent recruitment has been bang average though. The reason there is still a half decent team in there is largely down to players recruited 2-3 years ago (Taylor, Miley, GSM, Husin). Or players not recruited by the current management at all (Ralph, Coker, & Bridge)

Of the players recruited in the past year or so, only Pepple and Morton have had a consistently positive impact this season. Some like KAF, Wind, and Walker have shown positive signs, but haven’t been able to do it consistently due to not being selected/injury.

And the rest, Crowther, Waldron, Bonne, Moncur, Gubbins have been average at best.
Much of this is true, however, two of the most disappointing players this season have been Bridge and Husin.
Husin in particular is undroppable despite putting in 4/10 performances most weeks.
Two of our previously most creative, flair players are now shadows of their former selves.

. The question is do you trust Kev and team to turn this around, including replacing players in squad or do you give a new guy those funds?

Your second option is likely to be much more expensive than the first.

What if there is only enough money to sack Kev and Co with no new players for a new manager (sacking people is not free) or allowing Kev to sign 2 or 3 players?

Very true, Bridge has been dropped at times, how Husin is immune is beyond me. I was fuming when I saw Coker and Morton on the bench and he still starts. How does Maher not see it?

Is it strange? The loudest voices appear to be from those who support the status quo and will defend Kev's position so vehemently that nothing you can say which exposes our tactical naivety and ineffectiveness across every part of the pitch registers in any way.
Says the poster who has outshone Wiggy on both the OMT and this thread in Maher out post counts and moans.

I’m not going to defend Maher’s position. Ultimately he takes the can for the bad and the praise for the good but it’s about time some of the squad took a long hard look at themselves and stepped up their game.

He still has credit in the bank but it’s shrinking. January transfer window is crucial for his future and the club’s season.

You only seem to come on here to slag other posters off. I see you.

Dean brennan would be decent appointment but not sure he would leave barnet for Southend. Barnet games look very entertaining, plenty of goals. Brand of football fans would enjoy watching. Maybe that's name we could get in the summer if barnet don't go up. Sorry kev but I do want to watch attacking football.

I'll still argue kev has credit in the bank to turn this round no question.
But...last season I started a Purely hypothetical thread asking where is the line. When is the trigger pulled if things get worse and I got slaughtered for even asking a hypothetical question.
Same question I suppose...when? IF?
I just don't know.
The thing that hurts is we have really good owners doing really good things off the field ( other than spunking money on players) and now it's gone sour on the pitch.
@damien always hinted that maybe maher was the right man for the troubles of the rats own making....bit like Churchill, good wartime PM but naff otherwise.

And that is the main point attackimg football. I bought a season ticket this year. First for many a year. If this style of play continues then not for me next year. Are you watching SZ COSU

It's interesting that some think that COSU needs to back the management more. I feel they have done so very well. Id argue if the management can't get much out of what they have bought in then they shouldn't be given funds to waste and rather save for someone else to decide who to bring in.

If we'd won by a single goal with a single shot today, i wonder if you'd be saying that. Barnet manager is embarrassing, listening to him berate his own fans recently, dont want him near my club and i'll not be buying a season ticket.
Kev is trying to get a tune out of these cobbled together players and not always succeeding.

Did anyone expect anything different after losing Cardwell and Kensdale? But lets go back further, all the players we failed to sign because of that embargo AND the threat of wages not being paid, combined with an awful reputation in the game.

We are LESS than 6 months from all that aggro and starting to steady a ship that was hours from sinking. Our manager was forced to try and improve a squad just 1wk until the league kicked off.

I think what people easily forget is how bloomin hard it is to steady the ship on the pitch, which is the knock on effect of years of decline. We SHOULD be bottom of the table, absolute basket case of a club without a pot to **** in. We ARE very very lucky.

An invested counciller here, a great Aussie there, a legend of a player and a generational fanbase. I still pinch myself when i walk the slight slope to the West stand turnstile.

Go out and get another manager, fine, but he better be bloody good to come here and he better bleed blue. To pick one that might slag off the fanbase, **** that.

He's been turned into the player Kev wants him to be. Keep the ball at all costs and take no risk. When Husin first signed he was a box to box midfielder and scored the odd goal. Now he panics when he gets the ball in the final 3rd.

Luckily it's not my job to find a replacement and i am not for one minute advocating binning KM. But truth be known we are on a rapid decline that has to stop one way or another, The thought of NLS fills me wtih horror.
Especially as teams can end up in the north and are based in the south.

I truly believe he had that role whilst Miley was out injured. But now he is back, i think Husin needs a rest and get his hunger back.

Well they have done brilliantly. Not sure the playing side was the absolute priority because we all said we would be patient? Clearly a lie. Regrettably.

Wonder where we’d be without GSM’s scoring streak, which seemed more him like taking it upon himself to get into scoring positions rather than a result us having actual good patterns of play

We'd be on 17 points without GSM's goals and assists, in 21st place.
