Test series vs New Zealand

Good comeback from England.

I'm not going to get too carried away with this result. NZ are ranked 7th in the world and were without Bond, their one player of real quality. England bowled well, albeit against a team without a batsman who averages 40, but the batting his been letting them down. We only won this because of a knock by our no.7. The fielding also needs to improve.

On the positive, after Galle and Hamilton, I can now see how this team can move forward.

Just pleased to see us win a Test match! If we hadn't dropped so many catches the margin would have been bigger but thats just nit-picking I guess

thats just nit-picking

Ah! Ron Nit-picking's French cousin, who presented the French version of Superstars in the 1970's. I used to love Ron Nit-picking presenting We are the Champions, and his inimitable commentary style. Who can forget his commentary of Franz Klammer's winning downhill ski run at the Innsbruck Winter Olympics in 1976 "and the crowd goes WWWWWIIIIIILLLLLLDDDDDD!"

"A Rose may smell nicer than a cabbage, but does not make better soup"
That is a wonderful analogy! It's the perfect explanation, for instance, why you might sometimes prefer the more workmanlike charms of a Phil Gridelet over the sublime skills of a Paul Byrne... it's all about the blend.

There are some other cracking Sidhuisms on Wikiquote:
