Tesco Beer Policy

i couldn't get served in LA at 34 cos i didn't have my passport, they wouldn't accept my EU driving license either.

The accept it here, although one guy the other night was a bit iffy with it bending it to the point where it nearly broke and then asked me what a category C license was to prove that it was mine. He then told me to bring my passport with me to which I replied "No because if I loose my bag with my passport and drivers license in it then I have no form of ID and won't be able to get back into England." He annoyed me.

Back on the Tesco thing, the amount of arguments me and my friends have had with the people in supermarkets over this is shocking! Surely it's only the person buying the alcohol that needs to have ID? I was by myself buying it for all they know if I could have a bunch of under-age drinkers in the car waiting for it, they just wouldn't be able to see them in person. There's no difference. Really annoys me, but then at the same time I can see the reason for doing it is to stop under-age drinking. I just get wound up by it.

The other thing is the "If you look under 25 we have the right to ID you" thing. I've just resigned myself to being ID'd up until I'm about 30 as I barely look 21 now! (Although if at 30 I still get ID'd I'll probably see it as a complient!)

As long as they are banging out booze as a loss leader, 50p a can for branded stuff and stacked to the ceiling as you walk in, any "Age Policy" that they run is just so much window dressing and proof positive of the hypocricy of Tescos and the other big supermarkets.

Exactly - if you was buying for under-age drinkers you'd just leave them waiting outside whilst you went in and bought it. Complete bonkers!

I hate it when you get the signs saying "If your lucky enough to look under the age of 25 then we have to ID you!". Patronising bollocks...

I went to Chelmsford a few weeks back and me and the family stopped off at a All Bar One for a coffee/beer etc. They wouldnt serve me a beer because I had kids with me, unless, I bought a meal for everyone. Now I've never seen that before.

Oh, for fecks sake. Tell you what, you lot are making my homesickness go away. I can't believe what I'm hearing...without trying to go all Daily Mail what the hell is going on?

Since when did some rule or guideline dictate that a parent having a beer with his children is irresponsible? Yes, if someone drags their kids down the pub and gets smashed then they have a responsibility to say no more but 1 beer? Unbelievable....

Tesco's are well out of order not selling booze to people with young kids.

One of the simple pleasures of life is to watch a group of smashed toddlers staggering about. Even better if you can get them to have a sprint race or boxing tournament..

When will any of the powers that be in this country realise that we neither NEED nor WANT a nanny state?

They should be putting their own house(s) in order first before deciding what we may eat or drink.

I know Tescos are all powerful, but when did they become the "powers that be"?

As I understand it, Tesco started life as a Jewish owned business, so they do control the world's finances and banking system from a bunker situated in the Earth's core. Where they eat small children.

...and drink their blood no doubt?

Tescos is short for TES Cohen? Where TES stands for TE Stockwell. TE Stockwell is the company Jack Cohen (Tescos' founder) bought some tea from.

It's enough to make anyone switch over to Amyl.

They don't ask questions in Harmony II.

I'll hit the big 3-0 next year but I still occasionally get asked for ID. It crossed the line from being flattering to downright annoying some time ago. My uncle struggled to get served in the US whilst in his mid-30's.

Kids who want booze will inevitably find a way - always have, always will. Sitting in the local park with a bottle of White Lightening is a uniquely British rite of passage which would lose its entire aura if we didn't instill the idea that drinking alcohol is a "grown up" thing to do from such a young age.
