Are you another LPG-ite, Andee? Isn't Sainsbury the only supermarket that provides LPG? If so, the contaminated fuel has only affected Tesco and Morrison's anyway, hasn't it...?

Not yet Matt but I am planning that the next car I get Jess will have this option, and for the record Waitrose over at Fossetts Farm vicinity do indeed now sell LPG, so when the new ground is built you will be able to fill up there.

I've only ever filled up with petrol from Tesco once. Gave me a terrible tummy ache, and made my wee go a funny coplour.

Ahh... thanks for that. LPG is the way forward, incidentally!

:)

I always fill up at Tesco, and my car has recently been suffering a loss of power, and has not started a few times (no its not old and ****!!), and I have had no idea whym, nor the garage I took it to!!

Im not a happy person!!

By the way you seem to be only really badly effected if you have an oxygen probe in the system as this seems to be getting knocked out and the engine does not know the oxygen mix, usually found just before the catalytic converter. So really old cars should not have an issue when they get this bad mix out of the system whereas newer cars with Cats will need this probe replaced at about £1000 to do the work.

how many people on here have been effected?

My baby just suffered a MASSIVE loss of power in the A12 from Chelmsford to Colchester. As a result, it's now off road, and I'll be getting in touch with the RAC. Was planning to finish work at 1.45 tomorro and shoot back for the game, but wont be able to now. I'll be writing a mahoosive statement at work tomorrow, detailing everything. TEsco's are going to pay!!!!!!!

its actually quite interesting reading some of the stuff written on this thread and how true some of it really isnt.

I would like to express my feelings on this issue, but i cannot.

Thanks Dave. Or Mr Dave Tesco :)

From the news isnt it just one "batch" that had too much silicone ? I saw on the news it didnt affect Fords or Vauxhalls either due to them not having whatever part broke down. Ive also seen on the news someone with a Corsa had problems so that contradicted that statement.

erm, i dont work for Tesco.

those who know me know who i work for, and thusfore why i cant say anything.

I agree, i saw te paper that said that, but also another news story with people having problems with Fords and Vauxhalls... just goes to show you cant believe evertything you read!

One of my uncle's used to work in Coryton so I was educated from a young age in the ways of fuel. High octance non-supermarket fuel is the ONLY choice unless you are running around in an old banger (or have LPG/electric cars). Try sticking it in your tank a couple of times and see what a difference it makes to the performance of your car. (Naturally you should make sure your car can handle it but most should be able to).

Mine only ever has Shell V-Power (replaced Optimax) or if desparate BP Ultimate. My car would woefully underperform on unleaded and the computer management would remap itself and probably need resetting.

By the way GNH I forgot to tell you. Your car ONLY ever had Optimax in it from new. :D :D

Just disconnect your battery then put it back on again and save yourself £400 for a dealership to do the same.

All gasoline has to meet BS5050 standards. It's an offence to supply fuel that doesn't meet these standards.

the fuel that was supplied DID meet these standards... however, the tests to pass these standards do not include a test for silicon.

i read on the BBC 'have your say' bit, that some fool thinks this is a conspiricy theory by the government to rise fuel prices..... honestly... why does everything these days have to be a consipricy theroy!!
