With reference to Sutcliffe - that was a fabrication invented to support a 'not guilty by reason of insanity' defence. He didn't mention it in his first confession.

In fact teh largest historical killers (Atlilla , Genghis , Hitler , Stalin etc) all did so without a "God" (no its not to argue they wouldn't have done if they had one. Simply a ocused and passionate individual will sometimes use any ideology to justify their own means.
