So with competition for places at an all-time high, and our substitutes having a great impact on yesterday's game - what would be your team for next Saturday? Is Sampson a "must start"? Has Barker been out of form for too long? Do we still lack a bit of creativity in the middle? Does our defence need a shake up after only 1 clean sheet in 10 games?

Probably best to assume that everyone is available, except BBBC.

Same team as yesterday apart from starting Sampson in place of Benyon who I thought pretty anonymous. Maybe Mohsni's best role is from the bench, that's twice he has done that this season and it doesn't give him enough time to get involved in any silly spats.

Are you sure? :winking:

Do you not think a front 2 of Sampson and Dickinson would only give us one option of hoofball though? I thought Sampson looked a real class player when he came on yesterday but for me he could only really replace Dicko. I didn't think Dicko had the best of games up until the penalty but after that he was different class and should probably keep his place.

My only change would possibly be Sampson for Benyon. Sampson looked more like scoring in his 10 mins than Benyon did in his 80. That's not a dig at Benyon, I think there's a good player with goals in him when he's had a few more games, but he seems very lightweight to me & I don't think he had a great game yesterday.

I know we have the option to keep Sampson for longer, but if it is only going to be a month, then maybe start him at Shrewsbury, after all they ship goals at home at a rate of 0.5 a game, so maybe more of a physical threat is required..

I would keep the same team, and use subs as before. I would like Benyon to have a run of starts to build his confidence, fitness and sharpness.

What a great position to be in though, top of the league after a cracking away performance and the team reinvigorated with new additions - Crawley et al won't like this one bit!!

I reckon drop Gilbert for continuously hoofing the ball down the line and giving the ball away, stick barker left back and put MOSHNI back where he belongs

Dicko was unplayable yesterday but he's not a targetman, he's said as much himself. All credit to him, he has learnt to play that role in his time here to the best of his ability but I believe he has always said that he works best alongside a targetman. Sampson is that man IMHO, and that's not a dig at Benyon at all who has worked hard and shown some very nice touches since his arrival. We need to give the kid games though during his loan so I'd start Sampson at Shrewsbury.

gilbert out

Agree with point one, but would play Prosser or Leonard there and leave Moshni on the bench

Did Dicko's booking take him to 5 and therefore a 1 game ban?

I dont think so as he was banned for Wimbledon following 5 yellows plus the yellow card amnesty has just passed?

Its a tough one for sure.

Up until the introduction of mohsni and then sampson we looked a bit hit and miss.

Can we really drop martin and benyon ? A bench consisting of harris sampson moshni grant ferdinand leonard leaves a huge amount of changes we can make, but what surprises me most is that we also have sawyer blair and big barry lurking aswell.

If thats not currently the best squad in the league then i dont know what is.

Who would be a manager lol

Difficult to drop Martin after he scored a goal, I would suggest.
Sadly, I really don't think we'll see Barry this season, really hope I'm wrong, BTW, just imagine if he came back for the last 4-6 weeks of the season, could be like signing a new striker for the run-in!
Blair will probably be a bit player for the rest of the season who will give certain tactical options and 110%, for which he can't be faulted.
Sawyer seems to have dropped down the pecking order a little but must challenge Grant, Ferdinand and Leonard for the midfield spaces on the bench.

The thing that does concern me slightly, and which we haven't addressed, yet, in the window is a competent starter replacement at CB, bearing in mind that we seem to be pretty set on Bilel being an impact sub, for which he is perfectly suited. IMHO, Barker, who I really rate, has seemed to struggle a little recently, certainly a bit below his usual standard and I don't know whether perhaps he's carrying a knock, (Luggy said he'd got players who weren't able to train properly and just play games, we know Phillips was one, could Barker be the other or one of the others?), or could just do with a breather on the bench for a game or so but it would be great to have that option.

Just glad I don't have to make the calls.
